    Hi girls

Im now in the dreaded 2ww and wondered what everyone does with regards to drinking alcohol and eating things like soft cheese and sushi etc which ur not meant to have when pg.

This is month 3 of ttc and in the past 2 of my 2wws have not been that careful (not got really drunk or anything!) but wondering that maybe I should cut out alcohol and food I shouldnt eat and that might help get my BFP??!

what does everyone else do please?

    Hi,

I have really limited my alcohol intake this month, though last month I didn't really do that

I don't eat soft cheese anyway, bt I have eaten pate and sushi in the last couple of weeks

You have nine months of not eating them- get it all down your neck while you have time!!

hiya, I am most definitely going to be avoiding alcohol, cheese etc in the 2ww. I got my bfp last month and miscarried on tuesday at 5 and half weeks.
3 days before i got my bfp, i went out with the girls and as you can imagine had a very boozy night. I therefore blame that on my mc.
I may stop feeling like this once I have got over the mc, but at the moment i am blaming myself.
    love littlemiss

Little miss please don't blame yourself, I'm sure it won't have made you miscarry and I really hope you get another BFP soon.

I'm not a big drinker anymore but stayed with friends last weekend and did enjoy a glass of wine. I still eat soft cheese too and doubt either in moderation would inhibit a BFP, would be interesting to know for sure though? x

littlemiss I am sorry that you blame yourself but please dont hon. I am sure its nothing to do with that and hope that in time you will believe this

I am not a big drinker anyway so its not too hard for me to cut back on alcohol. foodwise though im awful - the more I cant have anything the more I want it so things like sushi, brie and mcflurrys which I hardly ever eat become so much more appealing!!

my hubby is also allergic to nuts and have read in places that I shouldnt eat them if pg but other places says it doesnt matter....im addicted to nutealla and peanut butter so should I be eating these in the 2ww??!!.....ahhhh so many questions!!

oh littlemiss the miscarriage was definately not your fault. i too had a m/c on the 7th july at 11 weeks pregnant - i done everything by the book - i stopped running in the gym i didnt touch a drop of alcohol not even on my wedding day. i ate the right foods i stopped drinking tea and coffee and eating chocolate cos of the caffeine - whatever the books said i done it - i even kept my lap top off my lap and it still happened. It feels raw now but trust me it will get better - some days you will still think about it and it will hit you like a kick in the teeth but you have to be strong or it will take over your every waking thought.
A m/c is predetermined from the outset and once it starts nothing can stop it from happening.

    NEVER blame yourself xxxx

Yeah, the allergy question is all up in the air. Some experts say you should avoid common allergens in case it predisposes the baby to getting the allergy. But other experts say eating eg peanuts while pregnant would actually protect the baby from developing the allergy! So the long and short of it is, nobody really understands how allergy works yet. Personally, I'm just going to eat as I normally do (i.e. healthily), except for avoiding sorf/blue cheese, alcohol, rare meat, pate etc,. I'm going to try and follow the advice on NHS direct for what to avoid, but I don't see how avoiding peanuts will stop a baby from getting a peanut allergy. After all, mothers have eaten peanuts for millennia, but peanut allergies are a recent phenomenon, so far as I know. So I'm not worrying about that part.

thank you for your reply, i am sorry to hear about your mc too. i promise to stop blaming myself. we are going on hols next week so that will be a week of relaxation, just what we need and you never know we might bring a new little bean home. i am trying to look positive and know that it happened for a reason.

hi sweetie - I dont avoid nuts so maybe im not very supportive?! My hubby has a strange allergy though as he can eat peanuts which is obviously the nut most are allergic too!! its something to do with that peanuts are ground nuts and not tree nuts so think he is only allergic to tree nuts!! so do you not eat nuts at all now ur ttc or have u never eaten them?

so should I avoid nuts then...?!

littlemiss and dlp01 its such a hard thing to go through for you both. I have not been through it so can only empathise but my best friend went though it about a year ago and I know how awful it was for her.

Littlemiss please don' blame yourself as I'm quite sure your mc had nothing to do with alcohol intake, they are mostly for genetic reasons, not that that makes it hurt any less.

I ate peanuts in my last pregnancy as there are no allergies in our families, but I'm afraid I couldn't give up my sushi habbit.

Littlemiss, dont blame yourself my best mate got drunk 3 times in her 2ww one of them being the day before af was due( she didnt do it on purpose but had unprotected sex with hubby once and had convinced herself that there was no way that she would be pregnant from that) Anyway she had a baby girl last week and shes perfect, but i had my bfp in april and like dlp01 done everything by the book and mc in may. Like you say lifes so unfair.

Since mc i tend to go a bit easier in my 2ww but i dont cut everything out completely as thats makes me even more annoyed when af shows her face, thinking of all the things i could have had!

    Sticky babydust to everyone xx

Littlemiss - Life can be a bitch but the bad things that happen just make you more grateful for the good things - have a fantastic holiday and try to forget about having sex to create a baby and have it for love - i read that you have more chance of conceiving if you have an orgasm as well xx

Littlemiss - like the very sensible ladies have already said, please don't blame yourself for what happened. These things happen for all sorts of unexplained reasons.

I am on my 2ww at the moment which means I'm keeping alcohol down to a minimum (which is not a hardship as I have cystitis right now - grrrr!) but I don't actively avoid sushi or soft cheese. As and when I get my BFP, then I will cut out the forbidden foods...

Thanks for asking this, I've been thinking about this a lot in the last few days as we are currently in the middle of our first 2ww and dh bought a bottle of wine yesterday to go with dinner and I was really unsure whether to have a glass or not, I haven't really drunk since our wedding on 26 July in the hope that it would prepare my body but the thought of a glass of wine now and again is tempting, you've all made me feel better - I think that I will have a glass tonight! After all its Friday!

Littlemiss pls don't blame yourself, as its not something I've been through, I know it is easy to say but like others have said I'm sure it wasn't anything you did, some beans just aren't meant to be. Have a fab holiday next week.

I have just completed my first (and hopefully last) IUI. I was told by my RE to abstain from chocolate, caffeine, alcohol, bread/pasta during the 2ww. I am wondering if any of you received similar advice, and if you can explain why this is? I am having a rough enough time without my coffee and wine. Now, no chocolate or mexican food? I have never heard of someone needing to be on the atkins or south beach diet to get and stay pregnant??!!
