Getting Pregnant <
Trying to conceive

my partner and I have decided to try for our first baby (for both of us).
I stopped my birth control on 12th July 2014 and started to bleed on 16th (bleed or period I'm not sure). We got an ovulation test kit and just thought would give it a go today as would be day 11 in cycle (if it was a period I had) but it says negative for ovulating.
im just after advice or any other experiences other people have had... Do I need to have a real period before I would ovulate? Etc?
many thanks, Claire

I fell pregnant the week I came off the pill first time, I was on One if those with 3 different colours of pills in them. After my dd I went on to femodene which is a lot stronger and when I came off I had my bleed but didn't ovulate till cd 24. Them had a period and ovulated on cd 20/21 which is the cycle I fell pg. Good luck! X

The labour time sounds brilliant!
thanks for your reply. I guess everyone's different but now we've decided we're impatient!
im 31 bbut was only back on the pill for 4 months after a really long break so hopefully it won't take long for things to get back to normal.

Don't give up hope, might just take u a bit longer to ovulate first time but if I hadn't fell pg 2nd time my guess is ov would have crept forward by a few days each month till I was back on 28 day cycles x

Omg your labour time was amazing!!! Mine was 36 hours!!!!! Anyway it is possible to fall pregnant straight after stopping the pill (I did) but most people find that it takes a few months for their cycle to return to normal! Fingers crossed for you

God, i've only just noticed your labour time LH. I assumed you meant you were pushing for 1hr 20mins. I was in labour for 76 hours! she was VERY stubborn lol. I was pushing for over 2 and a half hours, and they wouldnt take me off the monitor because her heart rate was fluctuating with contactions. At one point I told the midwife if she didnt "get this bloody thing off me" I was going to leave haha! The things labour does to us ladies
Anyway, I came off the pill 5 months ago and had normal periods after my withdrawal bleed, until last month when I had to have an emergency laparoscopy due to a ruptured cyst (they also found blood in my abdo from endometriosis ) my cycle this month after my op was 40 days! But yeah, I think I pretty much went back to normal straight away. Xxx
