Trying to conceive

I stopped taking the pill in September as we were hoping to think about TTC within the not too distant future. It has been around five months now and I still have not had a period. I mentioned it to my GP before Christmas and he brought up PCOS but otherwise was stumped. I have had a lot of tests over the past couple of years and they were all normal (including scans of my ovaries), and I don't have any symptoms of PCOS other than this recent amenorrhea.
I started taking the pill due to acne during 6th form (I was 17 or 18) and was taking it for around 7 years as a contraceptive. I stopped taking it briefly 3 years ago and I bled constantly so I started taking it again. My periods were not irregular but were quite spaced apart (every 5-6 weeks).
Has anyone taken this long to start their periods again? Should I be worried or is this an ordinary problem that should resolve itself? Once it gets to the 6-month mark I have to go back to the GP to investigate it, but I'm trying my best not to worry!

It took me 7 weeks to get a period after coming off BC and that was bad enough so I don't envy you! I went to the doctor about it and they said about waiting until 6 months for further tests. Luckily I got AF the following day.
All I can suggest is waiting for the 6 month mark and seeing what happens next. Fingers crossed AF makes an appearance soon for you, it can be very frustrating.

It took me 9 months to get my period after coming off the pill. I stopped taking microgynon in April 2013, in September 2013 had I a really small period (hardly anything) and then nothing again until January 2014.
It's gutting and if I had known it would take this long I'd have definitely stopped the pill earleir, but all I seemed to hear of was people who came off the pill and got pregnant immediately!
So you're definitely not alone. It's good that you've had various tests over the years. I'd say try not to worry - in fact worry/stress for me was a major factor I believe.

I have no advice I'm afraid but I wanted to say hello! I recognise you from hitched. Hopefully you recognise me too (same avatar but different username)! I hope that AF shows up soon X

I came off the pill in October 2013 and I didn't get AF until end of Jan 2014, even then it wasn't a 'normal' cycle, maybe only 2 days long and then my cycles stayed irregular (about 43 days on average). I have heard of people taking longer and then some people taking no time at all. Hopefully it'll arrive before the 6 month mark x

I have no advice either I'm afraid, I just wanted to say hello. I hope AF turns up soon to ease your worries though.
