We haven't even being trying properly for a month but im so convinced im going to be infertile. I had chlamydia when i was at uni (after being assaulted) nd it wasn't treated for about 6 months and i ended up with pain when urinating, sex etc and im convinced it was PID. I was treated for the chlamydia and it went away. However i am so sure im going to be one of that small percentage that can't have children. I spoke to the nurse at my surgery and she said it was unlikely and not to worry about it. Im so sure it will be me and that ill not be able to have children.

Is anyone else having a nagging feeling they are infertile?

yes im extremely convinced im infertile! for numerous reasons:

1) im only 24 and its taking waaaay too long to concieve, were on 13 months now

2) i was fairly promiscious as a teenager and always thought i was lucky not to catch any STD'S, yet i suppose how do i know if i did or not?!?! ive never had any tests for that

3) me and my OH are young and healthy and were trying fertility monitors with next to no success

plus im like you hon, just have a nagging feeling somethings wrong, i went to my GP to convey my worry and he just laughed!

nobody takes women who are trying to concieve seriously!!!!

I think most of us have had this niggle!! I convinced myself last month that I was going to have problems because I don't get the cervical fluid all the books and websites bang on about but the fab ladies on here reassured me that not everyone gets a noticable amount.

I'm on Month 6 now and every month we've not done it I wonder to myself if we ever will.

It's difficult as until you try you just don't know. But on Month 1 of TTC I wouldn't worry just yet hon, theres apparently just a 20% chance of falling pg every month, with most under 30's falling around the 6th month but Doctors generally don't consider you for any infertility testing until 1 year of unsuccessful BD'ing.

Sorry to hear about your past assault and following complications, I can understand why you have that extra bit of concern but luckily you had some symptoms (a lot of women don't) and you got it sorted so you should be fine. Perhaps see your Doctor again in 6 months if you've not had a BFP.

Kimxx- Maybe you should get those tests done for peace of mind?? It's very easy now.

When DH and I first stopped using condoms we got quite bad thrush but I was scared it was something more so we went to the Doctors. They gave me a couple of tests to take away with me, you can do a swab in private, you put it back in it's container, write your name on it and fill out a brief Q&A and then pop it in their 'samples' box.

They test them for various things and get back to you. It's reassuring to know you have the all clear as some infections can be symptomless.

i have also thought this aswel as im so young but my partner is older and when i have had unprotected sex or when the condom split with my ex all the time i was with him never got preg i had one mis without me nowing i might off been and one mis due tome not nowing and taken the morning after pill was both very early early mis then with my partner now i no we would never get preg as he is infertile but we have tryed twice with a fit healthy and healthy strong sperm man with af and nothing happened first time im waiting on this time but its mad because people younger and older than me r getting preg first time in trying one even got preg when she had not even fully stopped taken her pill but im just not geting preg im really starting to think iam and if iam i was either born that way or its cus off my periods i no if u have bad ones its been linked to infertility and more ....

I thought I would add my thoughts on her girls and give you some PMA!!

I was convinced I would be infertile / not get pg as:

1) Had Chlamydia when I was younger and didn't know how long for!
2) I had abnormal smears for 6 years and a few biopsys done as had the HPV virus - luckily it has cleared up now!
3) I have a tilted womb - and although it doesn't stop you, I have been told depending on which way it is tilted (mine moves about) it can make it more difficult for the sperm to get in!
4) I had longish, irregular cycles (40-50 days)
5) I was on the pill for 10 years
6) My OH is coming up to his 40's
7) We were (he still is) quite heavy smokers

I started trying in April this year and fell at the beginning of August during cycle 3!

IT CAN AND WILL HAPPEN xx
