Getting Pregnant <
Trying to conceive

I've had a letter through 'inviting' me to book a smear test. Now I'm not 25 until April so I don't know if I'm supposed to have had a letter yet. I'm also hoping to be pregnant by then so wouldn't be able to get it done.
Does anyone know if you can get one done before you are 25? If you can, would it be worth doing as I hopefully won't be able to have one for a few months after my birthday?
Hope that makes some sort of sense.

I'm older than you and when I was younger you could have them pre-25, so there's certainly no medical reason not to have one now. In fact I think if you're sexually active they should be offered to all people. So, as you've been invited to book it, I would get it booked. Much better to be checked out nice and early then it's ticked off for 3 years.

I had my first when I was 24. I got the invitation letter so I booked it. I think the fact you have the letter means they can hardly scoff if you call to book! They may say no but I doubt they will. Get it done with now so it is all done and dusted.

In Scotland they start at 20, I've just turned 25 and will be due my third next year, so medically there is no reason that you can't have one.

Thanks for the replies. I know there's no medical reason I just wondered if the letter was a mistake because of my age. I'll give them a ring on Monday. Having one sooner will mean less time to worry about it I suppose!

Defo, get it done and dusted.
They're actually not that bad, it's the thought that's worse than the actual smear tbh.

They usually send it out letters within 6 months of your 25th birthday I think. Might just be your practise is doing it a little earlier - I definately got my letter before I'd actually turned 25 too :)
