Trying to conceive

We have made the decision to start TTC so I went to my GP last week to have my coil removed, only to find out that the strings are too short for them to take it out. A scan has shown that it is still where it should be so I have been referred to Gynaecology at my local hospital to have it removed, which is really frustrating as they have a long waiting list.
Has anyone else had this problem? Did the hospital manage to remove it easily?

Hi x have you tried at your local contraception clinic? My gp dosent do the mirena coil so they sent me to the clinic and I had it there, the GP does the follow-up if needed but they also said any problems and they will remove it.... The dr there may have more luck at reaching the threads or ask them to try again??
I was numbed up when it was inserted so I'd assume that it would be the same for removal x

Thanks. Unfortunately the family planning clinic I tried couldn't do it either! They said something about needing forceps and possibly a nerve block - sounds fun!

Oh OK...I had the nerve blocker and tbh I only felt a pinch for a few seconds - and it lasted hours lol could you ring the hosp and ask for a cancellation appointment? Might get seen a bit quicker if you can get in on short notice.
Good luck x
