I just went into the spare room to put my i-pod on charge! Turn round to find the biggest hariest spider on the floor - so big I screamed! I mean I usually jump and avoid that room until the otherhalf comes home to get rid!

I was frozen - completely frozen - you see he was right near the door - no word of a lie he was bigger than a golf ball - I had to go past him to get out the room! I managed to get out and go to the lounge where my mobile was and stand on the sofa in a weird leaning fashion so I could see the bedroom door! My heart was racing I was having a panic attack!

I called my oh left a message that sounded like buglars had broken in - the oh is out on a night out with his mate! He called me back just as I had managed to perch on the sofa still with one eye on the bedroom door and the other on Supernanny - heart beating like I'd nearly been killed! I pick up the phone say hello then start shreeking hysterically - the bloody thing has only just come stomping out the bedroom and up the hall towards the lounge!

So oh has just come home - before he came home the spider managed to do a tour of the kitchen and the bathroom and be back in the hall heading for the main bedroom, before the oh got here - then he got rid of the big hairy monster (and a baby monster that was found in the bathroom this morning after he left for work!) Then had me in floods of tears hugging him tight telling him to go enjoy the rest of his night - his mate was waiting in the car!!!!

I am the biggest whimp - I had to tell you lot - I thought it might give all of you a good laugh and take your mind off things!!!

Lots of love the biggest whimp on the forum!!!

It was touch and go but as he headed for he kitchen - thats near where the front door is - so I jumped from the sofa to he chair furthest away - tears streaming down my face - but I had to keep an eye on it to tell him where it was so he could get it!!!!!!! I feel emotionally drained after that!!! I was supposed t be having a relaxing evenin on my own without company....lol!!! XXX

God you've made me laugh! You sound exactly like me so don't worry hun!
A few weeks ago I was in the bathroom having a shower. When Id finished I leaned over towards the towel rail to reach my towel and there in the middle of the floor was the BIGGEST spider I'd ever seen in my life!! By god did I have a panic attack! I was screaming and screaming my ohs name DAAAAAAVVVVVVVVVE, DAAAAAAAAVVVVVE!! but the bloody plonker was downstairs in the kitchen and could'nt hear me! By the time he came up I'd lost my voice and was almost hyperventilating! I could'nt move!
By that time the spider had totally dissapeared. We spent the nxt half an hour looking for it and I was so scared to go to bed incase it was hiding in our bedroom. Two days later I found it hiding behind the washing bin. I calmly went downstairs and told the oh who thankfully removed it from the house. PHEWW! Thank god it was a Sunday and he was around to deal with it. I don't know what I would've done had he not been home!

Oh you girls have made me feel so much better!!!

Oh sarah I know what yo mean - I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep and he has been flushed!!! So not sure how you managed it! Don't know if you've ever seen Phill Jupitus's stand up act "Quadraphobia"- it is sooo very true everything he says about spiders - if you can't find it after you've spotted it, you stop using that room until it's found! And everytime you see a tomato stalk you jump thinking it's a spider!!!! Oh what a horrible phobia we have!!!!!

Scary!!! @ tomato stalk. I always jump if there's a tomato stalk dropped on the floor.

Just to add to the 'Eww!!!' factor, most spiders are actually girl spiders because they have a tendancy to eat the male spiders once they've had their wicked way with them. Not sure if that is true for house spiders but I think of them as she's when I see them.

We have this long plastic tube with a small fan thing at the handle end. You cam suck up spiders and crawlies without having to go to close and release them outside. I was all for the newspaper method but since meeting my super kind hubby who literally would not hurt a fly, I have seen the error of my ways and use the sucker thing now. (Except for moths..they are just evil! I mean what the heck is the point of them?? *shudder* )

Might beat on the wimp front. I jumped out of my skin when walking past the halloween display in Asda the other day. They had ome of those hand in a cauldron things that comes out when you walk past it. I moved about a foot in the air when it went off. Peole turned to look and everything I felt like such a tit ops:

Hello girls, loved the spider stories:lol::lol::lol: I hate it when people say they are more scared of us! why is it then, that when you go to bed or lay in the bath they will come all the way from the corner of the room to right above your bloody head where they will procariously dangle until you can't take it, it's a conspiracy, perhaps to make us feel like we need men? saying that, my dh wont go near them either so I'm teaching my son to get them for me!!!cruel? he loves them, but he hasn't quite mastered picking them up humanely-he always squashes them! amy x

Those two days were horrible! Everytime I went upstairs I'd look for it or expect it to suddenly jump out on me! Thats why I was so calm when I found it again. I was just so relieved that I did'nt have to worry about it anymore. I wish I was'nt scared of spiders. My oh thinks I'm a right whimp and tells me to pull myself together. I don't enjoy being scared ov them, my life would be easier if I was'nt, but I can't help it. He still does'nt understand and I don't think he ever will!! But at least is is there to 'rescue' me from them! lol! x x x

I know they do it SB but read that a lot of other species of Spider do it too. I'm sat out in the garden as the weather is still fab and there are a few spiders around the window frames. I'm leaving them though as they are catching all the annoying teeny flies that seem to be around at the mo. Don't mind them too much when they are outside anyway (I say whilst looking nervously around me... lol) x

My lo knows I'm petrified of spiders and always shouts 'spider!' at every opportunity to get a reaction out of me, but I've got him back cause I've invented the 'Kiss Monster' which seems to hide out in his play house at the mo'!! Didn't do it on purpose actually, I started calling him the 'kiss monster' when he used to smother me and now he thinks its someone else...poor guy! amy x
