Trying to conceive

Morning everyone and happy Friday (although it's slightly depressing for me as it marks the end of a week of annual leave).
I'm confused about ovulation this month and was wondering what you ladies make of this (sorry for a slightly long and rambling explanation)...
Towards the end of last week (starting around CD7 of 26-27 ) I had lots and lots of EWCM (sorry, TMI) so I assumed O was just around the corner. I had a couple of Clearblue Digital Ovulation sticks left so I did one on CD8 (negative) and the last one on CD9 which showed peak fertility. This and the EWCM was just short of week before I'd normally expect it but I thought perhaps things were just happening early this month. We DTD plenty of times over these days and since then, for whatever reason, I've had a really good feeling that this could be our month. Until yesterday, that was...
For some reason, I felt the urge to buy some cheapy ovulation sticks from Tesco and the one I did last night was positive (test band as dark as the control). This morning with FMU, the test line was even darker than the control. Could it be that I'm ovulating now and last week was just something weird going on? Can you have two LH surges in one month? If O is now, we've completely missed it - the earliest we could DTD is later tonight and that would probably be too late. One thing that I'm clinging to is that I've had no EWCM at all the last few days, so maybe last week was the real deal after all.
I really don't know. I just know that part of me feels gutted that I thought we'd covered things really well and were in with a real shot.

Hi Aria, sorry you're a bit confused lol! What CD is today? Is there any chance at all you've missed counted and could actually be pregnant? I read somewhere that opks can also detect pregnancy, sorry I don't want to get your hopes up I'm just wondering if you could be.
I hope you get some answers soon! xx

I was going to say the same as Lulu. I don't want to get your hopes up, but i'd heard that about OPKs too, although just to keep your feet on the ground, i wouldn't expect a pregnancy test to pick up a positive at 7dpo, but at the same time, it's not beyond the realms of posibility. Sorry, i'm not helping much here. Get a pregnancy test and see what it says. What's your usual LP like from OV?

I don't think I can offer anything different to what Lulu & RKB have already suggested... fingers crossed x

Sorry, there were paragraphs in that last post when I wrote it!

So if you're CD16 and you think you might have OV'd at CD9, that would put you at 7dpo and AF would be due in 6 days (If your LP stays at 12/13 days and you did OV when you think you did)
If you've OV'd yesterday/today at CD15/16, then AF won't be due until the 10th/11th?
There is always the possibility that you've OV'd twice this month, which is also uncommon, but not out with the realms of possibility.
I'd wait until the 7th/8th to test again with an IC or the likes. If nothing comes of that, then your not far off AF being due anyway, so perhaps waiting to see if she shows up on time before testing again?
You'll know yourself what's best to do, but if it was me, i'd perhaps do it like that....Say's she who is a POAS addict!

I know that your body can gear up to ovulate and then change it's mind for one reason or another which could be what happened as well as everyone else's suggestions.
At least you know when both your potential O times are so hopefully you've got them both covered and this could be your month.

Sorry your test was a bfn. I agree with RKB, you could ov twice in one month or another thing I have read is your body can gear up for ov (pos opk) but then not actually do it so it can try again later in the cycle. I would hold off the tests for now if you can and mabye dtd just in case you are oving late.
Good luck and let us know how you get on x

I was a bit slow posting and just seen Dolly's reply, looks like we are thinking the same lol :-)

Thanks everyone. I agree, it's probably most likely that I o'd just now, and that the results last week were my body gearing up but changing its mind. In that case, we may have just caught things but not feeling overly hopeful this month anymore. I'll let you know what next week brings!

Sending hugs your way. I have my fingers crossed for you all the same!

Hey, just dropping in to add to this. You can ovulate twice but from what I understand there is never more than a 12-24 hr gap, so it can't be that. Personally I think that ovulation is happening now, it ties in with your normal cycle length, although I know it's not ideal. Also, remember that cheapo OPKs cannot be used with FMU, they will give false readings, so best to stick to late afternoon/evening. Also an OPK will only show up positive as a pregnancy indicator, around the same time or after a pregnancy test would be positive, so I think the chances of you being 6/7dpo are slim, sorry. If you can't get back in to temping how about cervix checking? Helps to give you a better picture of what's going on and also a better indicator of cervical mucus, just because you haven't seen ewcm for the last week on underwear or toilet paper doesn't mean that it hasn't still been there.
Hope this all helps.

Hi Aria, sorry it was a bfn how many dpo are you? Hopefully it was just too early. x

Hi Aria, nice to see you back. I'd say the same as Lulu - hopefully it's just too early xx

Thanks both. Another quick update - the dreaded spotting has started this morning so I can expect AF any time now. I'll just be glad when she's been and gone so we can get on with the next cycle. Hopefully I'll be less confused this coming month!

Sorry it was a BFN Aria. Your cycle did seem to be a bit up and down this month. How long have you been trying (if you don't mind my asking). You should come and join us on the chat threads this cycle! We chat about all sorts (I think right now we're discussing wine tasting as a full time job!) and it does help to keep your mind away from constantly thinking about what your body is or isn't doing.
Sending you a big hug. I hope AF leaves quickly and you can move forward.

Hey RKB - no, I don't mind you asking. We've been actively trying since March this year, with a couple of cycles where we've not been able to time things right at all with pesky work trips and stuff getting in the way. I suppose our TTC journey so far is relatively short compared to others, but still long enough to become completely overwhelming at times. I've wanted to join in with the chat threads but can never seem to get the chance to post regularly - I normally lurk on my phone and it's a right pain! I feel a bit cheeky just dipping in and out but will make more of effort if you'll accept me as a part timer?

Sorry to hear the spotting has started, I get that as well it is so frustrating isn't it?
Of course join in whenever you can, not everyone posts everyday and a few of us have taken breaks from md when it all gets too much. Hope you're ok x
