I stopped my depo in February and mine started again today. I never thought I'd be so excited! Lol.
Hope it happens for you soon too.

I came off the depo in march, started off first month with regular period, then went haywire after that, having only a few days where I am not bleeding. Have now returned to normal (i hope) and getting symptoms like pregnancy, but not sure. Waiting before I get a pregnancy test, till I am a few weeks late, rather than a few days.
I am creating a blog to try and help people like me and you in what happens after the depo, with people trying to get pregnant. Like others have said, some people have got pregnant straight away and others have had to wait. If anyone can suggest any tips it would be greatly appreciated. http://tryingtogetpregnantafterhavingthedepoinjection.wordpress.com/
Sorry if this seems like I am advertising, but there is so little out there on the internet, so want input from people in similar positions who can help me spread the word so next time and others don't feel so in the dark.

The depo doesn't 'stop working' If you miss your appointment for the next injection, it just decreases in how effective it is. They advise 12 weeks between injections because it is highly effective for those 12 weeks. Research shows that it is at this point in some women, effectiveness begins to decrease, hence the likelihood of ovulation starting again increases. However, in some pct trusts they have started offering appointments every 13 weeks since it is still highly effective at this point. As the hormone has been injected into the body and you cannot just stop it like you would the pill, you just have to wait for it to decrease in effectiveness so much so that you begin to ovulate again. This differs from woman to woman as you can see. You should have been advised when you first started it that it can take up to 12 months for fertility to return post depo. It is the worst type of contraception to take if your planning a pregnancy in the near future. Fingers crossed that you have a period again soon!
