Getting Pregnant <
Trying to conceive

SO I went in today to get my labs reviewed, and well...should I start with the beginning instead? We are military, and while we were at our last base, I did a preconception checkup, but hadn't yet started charting. Doc was happy with STD labs, Thyroid etc. Fast forward to the end of March, which was one miscarriage and 6 cycles later, I realize *finally* I had a short luteal phase. So I go into see my Dr to double check the amount ofB vitamins I wanted to take to counter that, and if I should be doing anything else. I took in all my charts with me, as well. On reviewing them, Dr said he did not think I was ovulating, and he wanted to do Day 20 and DAy 3 testing. Well, we were leaving in 2 weeks for a new duty station, by way of another base at which we would be located for 3 months. I was able to do the day 20 labs, and hubby did a SA. Day 20 was .8 progesterone, too low. OK, but that cycle ended up being 37 days long, I don't think that was the right day. And I have had 3-8 days worth of positive OPKs most cycles, and last month I continued testing longer than I normally do, and had another batch of positive days in one cycle. I tried to keep tracking BBT but of course as soon as I got day 20 labs done we left for new temporary base and that went out the window with a 1500 mile drive in 3 days. So, basically, I think I didn't get those done on the right day. I got day 3s here, and they are fine, 6.7 FSH, 6.9 LH, 43 Estradiol. OK so TODAY With the NP on base we reviewed day 3 labs, and both agreed they looked fine, and that the day 20 should have been taken AFTER a spike was seen, or the DR was sure I had ovulated. Which she also didn't think I had done. She doesn't think PCOS or Endometriosis, so She referred me to an Reproductive Endo, and I am getting Thyroids re-done on monday (side note, WHY does everyone kep pulling blood for Thyroids when they are always fine?! End note) as well as an ultrasound. So that's all good, I guess I need it if she ordered them? But what confused me was I have 26-37 days long each cycle (avg 31 which is good), but she told me to BD on 29,30,31 and I would get preggo, as well as I should try to relax (HAHA we all know how easy that is, right!). I mean, that doesn't make sense, does it? Those wouldn't be the correct days ...and I feel like she is passing me on, which is great, since my referrals are good for a year so I can pick up when we get to our permanent duty station in 10 weeks. Referrals are hard to get in the military life so I am *really* happy about that. I can just find someone I like when I get to Arizona. But her comment about the days?! LOL. Really? Is she right? I don't think she is. I'm not a DR but I am pretty sure having sex towards the end of your luteal phase won't result in a pregnancy. I am just planning on BDing every other day from day 12 through the end. SORRY this is so long. I just had to share! Oh, she also mentioned she wanted to do the process where they look through the cervix, is that something I should allow them to do so soon with no other tries at anything else before hand? Sounds invasive. She did a well woman visit and looked at cervix and OS etc today, and it all looked as to be expected. Also, still waiting on hubbys SA is still out because we left the last base before he could get the results, but he is working on getting an appt here for those. *wipes forehead* sorry that was so long! Thoughts? Currently on CD 8

In theory you are most fertile immediately following your period?...but that said it is possible to fall pregnant at any point within your cycle & your Dr's suggestion may not be that daft (towards the end of your cycle the egg will be closer to your womb meaning your partner's sperm will have less distance to travel (i.e. is your Dr suggesting that his sperm aren't strong swimmers?))
As for the relaxing part, too much focus on falling pregnant can have a negative impact as you take the 'want' out of having sex & turn it into a 'need' to fall pregnant. Remember why you & your partner are together, remind yourselves what it is you love about each other & enjoy your time alone together, nature will do the rest. Best wishes & good luck.

Yes I know some people say hat, but when you have an already short Luteal phase it doesn't seem like the right math. And lid you don't ovulate, it's not the right math. And every article I've read says most odown only live about 12 hours, and most Soren only 1-2 days. You know? As for relaxing, or not stressing, charting is in itself stressful due to the early waking and making sure your tracking correctly. Which given my 26-37 day long cycle is a necessity because I ovulate anywhere from not at all, or day 14- 28 depending on the length of the cycle. I'm glad she's referring me out because I don't think she honestly has a clue.

Omg this iPhone!!! Hat = that, Lid - if, ovum instead of o down, Soren is sperm

DH had a SA at our last base but can't get the results because their system is messed up. We have to wait till he can get an appointment. I dont think that is what she was suggesting at all. I think she truly believes that if I have sex on the last day of my flow I will get pregnant. I have only a 3 day flow and if you average out my long cycles and short, it's 31 days. So that does not make sense for her to be telling me that.
