Trying to conceive

3rd time lucky trying to write/post this!!
So, many of you have asked about the gender swaying that I'm doing. I'm no scientist but a lot of what I've read on the subject seems to make logical sense & some of it seems just plain crazy. 1 quick thing before I fill you in on my craziness. I'd be perfectly happy with either gender but, as my hubby & I currently only intend to have 2 children, this is possibly the last time I will get pregnant so we thought it wouldn't harm to try & see if we can sway it towards boy.
It seems there are different factors to swaying, the main ones I do are
pH- you want your body to be as alkaline as possible this is done through diet, ions & supplements.
Diet- The most important factor I think. Mainly red meat, lots of salt, green veg like spinach, green beans, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, potatoes & bananas. The meat is to increase the testosterone in your system.
DTD - Apparently deep penetration is best for boy sway as apparently boy sperm do not last as long as girl sperm so need to get as close to the egg as possible. To dtd in the morning as this is when the sperm is at it's best & to dtd 2-4 times. Also if you have a orgasm during dtd it makes your cm more alkaline.
I tried to do this for around 6 months before I started ttc but for the 2 weeks before I was due to ov I really packed everything in, so currently I have all these things every day: 2 freshly squeezed lemons in warm water (apparently cold food is better for a boy sway & hot food for a girl), 2 bananas, a big bowl of breakfast (low blood sugar sways girl)2 tablespoons of honey cider vinegar 3 times a day in a carton of V8 juice. I also take 1 of each of the following supplements zinc, potassium, multi vitamins with folic acid, evening primrose oil, fish oil & L'argine. I also tend to snack on something salty like almonds, olives or crisps in the afternoon & often evening too.
It's not too tricky, the hardest bit is giving up dairy for 2 weeks. I used to drink litres of milk every day (well at least a pint), maybe that's why I have a girl!

Really interesting, Thanks for sharing, I hope it works for you!

I'm not sure any of this makes sense. As I put at the top I've written this 3 times now so I'm not sure if I included everything in it this time! Who knows if it'll work & if it does work I'll never actually know what aspect of it actually helped. But I figured it was worth a try! Last time I used preseed & I'm not sure if that helped or not but am using it again this time. Funnily enough preseed is supposed to help sway boy!

It can't harm to try, I heard good things about preseed so my fingers are tightly crossed for you!

How interesting! What about hubby - have you got him doing anything, to try and make more boy-sperm? Eg IIRC hotter temperatures are more conducive to girl-sperm surviving, so is he making extra efforts to keep his balls cool?!

If you do the diet it's supposed to increase your chances by 80%. My hubby is taking a few supplements, he's not drinking alcohol, or caffeine. He's following the boy diet but I bought ph strips to test my ph & my H's sperm (sorry for tmi!!!) is very alkaline so he's not doing the lemon or cider vinegar drink. I do make him get up early to dtd & try to get him to drink a caffeinated drink an hour or so before we do it. I tried to convince him to put ice on his balls (I've read about people doing this) but he wasn't up for going that far!!

Deep penetration? Maybe that's why I have 2 boys, lol.
That aside, good luck to you!

Icy balls, ha ha ha! This is really interesting. I have a son but now I've remarried I'd like 2 more, not much I can do about the one in the oven but I might be coming back to you in 18 months for more info lol

I'll be so interested to see what you get.
H wanted a boy last time (doesn't mind this time) but I think had I suggested he ice his balls he'd have been happy with a girl!

I once read of people who spin the sperm sample in a centrifuge bought with a child's science kit!
Also the swim up method where they put an egg white on top of the sample and then only use insert the egg white. Personally I thought the ejaculating in a pot and turkey basting was going too far for a heterosexual couple. But maybe they were desperate!
I think this summarised it:
However I managed to find a thread where they were all talking about their centrfuges! I worked in a lab at the time and wondered what I could get if I offered my real centrifuge to these women.. £££
Good luck BK hope it works for you!

V interesting! I'd also read in the fertility bible (TCOYF) that timing of DTD in relation to ov is also important. She says that the closer to ov you DTD the more likely it is to be blue. 3-4 beforehand then pink! Good luck and I look foward to hearing how things pan out for you!

Sweet pea, I read about the timing but I was disappointed last month in not getting a bfp & think I'd rather chance this part & try every other day leading up to ov so I get more opportunities for the sperm. I've read differing views on timing & as much as I'd love to have a boy the thought that it might take a lot longer if I limit the timing scares me. I have, however, added green tea to my list of daily drinks. This is a big step for me as I hate tea & coffee. I add some of my freshly squeezed lemon to it but it still tastes like mouldy water!! The things we do.

Gosh, that is quite interesting. I will be looking forward to seeing if it works for you Blackkat. My H gave up alcohol and caffeine when we were TTC every time and everything we did was always the same yet to the exact same ness we have 1 boy pregnancy and 2 girl pregnancies!
(heartnurse quickly scuttles away from the TTC boards, its far too dangerous here, thought I was on BT!)

We Dtd everyday from about cd 9 to cd 14/15, no dietary changes but usually from behind [blush] and have had 3 boys, you are more dedicated than me, I think ttc Dtd is hard enough never mind taking dietary changes /environmental factors etc into it , I don't think I could do it as I'd feel I was missing out in lots of Dtd opportunities iyswim, I think I'd be happy just to Dtd till our eyes bled approach as I'd feel it was quite limiting and of course you aren't guaranteed a boy.
Hope it works out for you though, will be interesting to see

I hope it works for you! I read about swaying before we TTC R but decided I wasn't bothered enough to do it lol. Some of the people on ingender are crazy about it and the gender disappointment forum always makes me sad.
3 x dtd on ov date has equalled three boys here!

I haven't read a lot of the threads Alaina as I'm sure there are people who really want a particular gender & are disapointed with the opposite gender. As I put. I'd love to have a boy & am giving it my best shot but at the end of the day I'd be happy with either gender (not entirely sure how I'd feel if I didn't already have a girl & desperately wanted a girl though).

H and I were looking into this the other week, it's very interesting. He would like another boy whilst I'm really happy with either.

I love stuff like this. It's fascinating! Problem is there is no way to ever prove any of these methods because you'll never know if you'd have conceived that sex anyway, it's always one or the other. Can't wait to find out your outcome though BK!
