Getting Pregnant <
Trying to conceive

Sorry I've not posted in ages, there's probably lots of new names that don't remember me, and hopefully most people that do have moved on from this board!
We got the results of H's second SA yesterday and it was pretty much normal! The first test just over 3 months ago showed a very low sperm count, but this time it was normal. The Dr said with his count we have a good chance of getting pregnant naturally. I guess this shows how much stress of minor illness can effect a man's swimmers!
So the Dr is now referring us onto the hospital for more tests, he said it'll be things like an HSG for me. His advice was keep trying but don't get bogged down in the science of it all.
We're 18 months in now, hopefully we'll have some luck soon!!
I hope you are all well.

Hey Dolly, so lovely to hear from you, glad all went well with your H's SA. I hope your referral comes through quickly, the HSG is a simple procedure involving a probe that they insert to have a look at your tubes, they then pass a blue dye through each tube to basically see if it comes out the other end, if it does it indicates no tubal blockage, the x ray will also show up any abnormalities of the uterus so it's a very good test to have. I won't lie it can be quite painful but it doesn't take long and just make sure you take a few ibuprofen about an hour before hand. Fingers crossed all will be well and it will happen for you very soon. xx

Lovely to hear from you DP.
I'm glad your OH's SA came back normal and that you are going to get some medical help although I really hope this invokes the law of sod and you end up not needing any of that help xxx

Hi Dolly P! Great to hear from you, I was thinking about you the other day as I thought your H was due his next SA. So glad it was normal and glad your doctor is refering you as well, hopefully this is you on the road to a bfp soon xxx

Thanks for your messages,
Claire Lou, good luck for September it will come round so quickly and I really hope this is your time xx
Candy Apple, I need to seek out your birth announcement, I see your ticker says you have a 3 week old! How did that happen so quickly!!
Tayto, like the ticker!! I didn't even know they did ovulation ones!
Lulu, how are things with you, I know you were going to the Drs for some tests, did they all come back ok? xx
RKB, good luck with ttc number 2!
I'll try and dip in and out a little more often but I do find it easier not to be here all the time, but its nice to come back and see you all as well.

Dolly, We've moved to a more chatty style thread that's not as focused on TTC which i think is great!

Make sure & take strong painkillers before the HSG - mine was horrific but I seem to be in the minority thankfully!
It also acts as kind of a deep clean of your tubes & fertility is increased for 2-4months after, if nothing is found.
My OH SA was fine too & a week after the procedure I mustered the courage to DTD twice before an unrelated operation & at the end of that month we got our bfp. Other mumdrum users have similar stories so hope that helps - good luck!!

Dolly - I came across them a while ago and a few of us had them but I removed it after last cycle. Was playing with them again today but have removed it cos I think it'll drive me nuts already... still trying to do that 'relaxed' approach to TTC myself!
As RKB has said, we now have a weekly chat thread so it's not too TTC focused... you're always welcome to drop in whenever you like xxx

As the others have said the weekly chat thread is so much better, I tried to have a break but still found myself lurking so it's nice to be able to chat still without the feeling of having to mention ttc if I don't want to.
The only tests we have had are H's SA which came back good and my 21 day bloods which also came back ok (only got the results last night). Docs won't refer us yet so no hsg for me yet but knowing everything is looking ok I'm happy to wait a bit longer as I am wondering if stress has been a factor in our journey so far. We will go back in the new year and get the referal then.
Hope to see you around a bit more xx

Hi Dolly, lovely to 'see' you here again and to hear the good news about H's SA. I've heard good things about the HSG so I really hope it works for you if you have to go down that route, but I hope that BFP is right round the corner for you xx

Thanks for the advice ladies, I'll be sure to take painkillers before the test then hopefully it will be worth it and will make me super fertile!!
Lulu glad your tests have come back ok, fingers crossed you have a stress free time now and get a bfp soon.
I'll try and pop onto the weekly thread at some point xx
