Getting Pregnant <
Trying to conceive

Hi!! I've been following this forum since I decided to try for my second baby after having my son 4 years ago. Last month, I had eggwhite mucus that seemed a little dry, but I had it. Also, I had ovulation pain on the right side at the same time. I made love to my husband about three days before and two days after I had the ovulation pain and still, I didn't get pregnant. My cycles are about 25 days long.
This month I decided to track ovulation a little closer. I started checking bbt and bought Clearblue opk test. I am now 12 days after my period, which would be about the day I should be ovulating, but I did the test yesterday and today, and showed no LH surge. My temps are still down on the 97.4 F range, but they are a little irregular. I have not had ovulation pain yet, but noticed elastic mucus that started two days ago. If I was going to ovulate this month, I should have seen a positive opk by now, right? I am confused and afraid there is something wrong even though I seem to be in optimal health being 34 years old. I am so sad, anxious and concerned... Can't stop thinking sbout it!

Pribaby, I am in exactly the same position as you! Last month I ovulated on cd8 (or cd25, depending if my af was a proper af or just mid-cycle bleeding). Bd'd at the PERFECT time for it (without actually knowing, didn't realise I was near ovulation). Opk sticks showed nothing, even though I did one on the day I ov'd.
This month, opk's have shown nothing again, despite the fact that my ClearBlue Fertility Monitor showed 'high' for days and days. My temperatures stayed low though, so I know I didn't ovulate....but yet now I have a very light af bleed again. Most frustrating as we made sure we bd'd every day for 2 weeks - all to no avail as my ovaries clearly didn't want to let the egg go!
I've never had a positive result on an opk, and I've now used 44 of them at the right times over the last 6 weeks ("My name is WooH and I am a pee-stick-aholic"). I have pcos (only symptom is anov, irregular cycles) which I'm sure must be a large part to do with it, but it doesn't make it less frustrating. I've been testing twice a day, so I know I haven't missed anything (unless my opk sticks are corrupt and evil). I completely get where you're coming from (if you need someone to scream with, pick me!!!!).
However, don't worry yourself too much now. If you're cd12 and your luteal phase is, say 10-12 days long, you still have a couple of days in which to ov. It might also be that the surge is happening at times that your sticks aren't picking it up - e.g. if you test at lunch time, the surge of LH might be around tea time, in which case, probably gone before your next test at lunch time the next day.
The most reliable way of checking if you're ovulating is by temperature-taking, which I know you're already doing - I know it's all a little hind-sight, in that obviously, you only know you've ov'd after it's actually happened (and therefore too late to catch the egg) but at least when your temp goes up, you know you definitely released an egg. Just bd as much as you can (every other day should be good) and hopefully be right on time for when your little egg decides to venture out for an adventure.
Wishing you lots of luck! Keep us posted xx

Thanks for the encouragement, windmiller! Interesting, I just tested with my opk and got a positive. I think this thing of testing in the evening can really work if you get lucky. Here keeping my fingers crossed for an actual ovulation. It is funny because I just felt a tiny ovulation pain to my right side just a few hours before this positive opk.
Hi, Wohoo! It's always nice to see you around, hun. So you have irregular periods? That would make it harder to predict ovulation. Have you been temping all these months?
It just makes me nervous that we can have everything looking right but just not have real ovulation. I am still skeptic since last month it looked like I ovulated but did not get pregnant anyways. Well, I'll try to stop being a drama queen. I know many women take months to get pregnant and I just need to be patient.

Hey Well, I thought I had irregular periods, but after doing some detective work esterday, it turns out they've been 15 days, 17, 16, 19 and 19, so not that far apart. but each af isn't the same, in that they've alternated from heavier, light, heavier, light. This means I don't know if my lighter bleeds are actual af's, or just prolonged mid-cycle spotting. If it is mid-cycle bleeds, then it means my cycles have been 32, 35 and so far 25.
The mid cycle spotting thing scares me a little; because it's slightly heavier than spotting, but way lighter than a proper af, it can point to all sorts of things like endometrial cysts, endometriosis, severe pcos (which I know I already have pcos), or just that it's weird bleeding. But if it is a proper af, the fact that it's alternately light could also mean that one of my ovaries isn't functioning right, hence why I'm only getting proper af's every other month, with absent ovulation in between. On a positive note, it could just be heavier ovulation bleeding....in which case we've not once bd'd at the right time!! I wouldn't want to if I was bleeding anyway, unless it was super light.
I've been temping since April, charting since then too. Used opk's since June and started my ClearBlue Fertility Monitor on 9th August, but didn't ov this month and just finished a weird non-af type bleed yesterday. At least I have my appointment in a few weeks! Writing all of this down to ask her!
Great news about your opk showing positive! Make sure you bd wildly! Haha! Try not to worry; even if you ov and bd at the exact right time, there's still only a 25% chance of conceiving. Makes you wonder how teenagers manage it without even trying...! Good luck, hun! xx

Temperature came up a little today. Not very reassuring pattern, but it did. Here are my temps: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/m/chartgraph_module.php?d=2013-08-20
