hi everyone, I have recently come off the pill (microgynon) after being on it for a year and a half as we are ready to start a family together.

I have been off the pill now for about 2 weeks, I started bleeding last night very light and woke up this morn and was really heavy with quite a few clots. (sorry about the info) is this a period or what? also how long did it take you all to resume to getting regular periods, how long did it take you to fall pregnant? & is there anything that help boost getting pregnant that you could recommend? :) xx

Hi there, I was on Cerazette for just over three years, with no periods at all.

Once I came off the pill last year, it took 28 days then I had a normal period, and we fell pregnant after a couple of months, so I was lucky in that respect.  I would say that you have had a period judging by what you described, so looks like all is well with your body!

We are all different, but the only advice I can give you is start takinfg your folic acid tablets straight away, while you are trying for baby, this will help your body and baby in the long term.

I am back on the mini-pill again as I sadly had a mmc last October on the morning of our first scan  I have had normal periods since then, even with the mini-pill but it is a different brand from the last one so may be why.

We are currently thinking about trying again at some point soon, we were set against it after what happened last year, but would like to try again for baby number 2 while our little boy is still a young age (he is 4 this July).

Good Luck and hope you have some good news soon! xx

Hello there, thank you for responding,

Im going to get some folic acid tablets tomorow thank you for the suggestion, do you think I if I done a ovulation test it would give a accurate result now? as I feel like this is a period but Im not sure, it seems like it as ive never been this heavy.

Sorry to hear about the mc, your be able to ask your Doctor/midwife to do more scans, and should be able to get a scan at 6wks. My mum went through the same before having me and she said she had a scan at 6wks and futher tests to make sure everything was ok.   I hope everything works out for you xx

Thanks Soph1234, yes get some folic acid tablets.  As for the ovulation tests, I never bought any of those, I just went on what I saw when I wiped ovulation wise, and kept a note on a calendar/diary to then see when my period was due and when ovulation would be from then, as I have always been very regular with dates etc.  You should try one if you think it will help though!

Thanks for the advice too about your Mum, that is always reassuring to hear.

Best of luck and speak to you again soon maybe! xx
