I was thinking the same, I think it's the end of the month thing maybe.

I'm at work bored shitless and trying to think of an excuse why I'm not drinking tonight at my dad's 60th birthday party.

    Any suggestions? xx

Hey Jock hows you?? I am surprisingly upbeat to say I am about to lose my business, have to put my house up for rent 2 days after finishing decorating a nursery that we will never use and have to leave the city we love to move back to the gun crime capital of Europe!

On the brightside all it took was a bit of alcohol and some 'looking on the brightside' to convince OH it was a good idea to TTC this month and we BDed 2 days before and on the day I think I OVed so I think we are in with a good chance this month!

PMA people, I have lots to spare right now!!

Queen Bee - I offered to drive and mum's booked a flipping minibus!

Miss I - loving your PMA - we should all look on the brightside, life is too short to be miserable.

Lemonade is a good one, if I get them to put it in the little glasses, everyone will be none the wiser - quick thinking batman!!

I've bought alcohol free beer to have at home so my parents think I'm still drinking!

GLK, say you're on antibiotics for a rather embarrassing problem - if anyone probes further, act like you're about to cry and say, "I'm sorry, I just don't want to talk about it". Or would that put a bit of a damper on the party...? x

GLK, say you have stopped drinking because you are a secret recovering alocoholic lol, that will shock em into not asking you again lol.

There is no secret about it!! My brother once said to me "alcoholism runs in the family - just embrace it"

    Ha ha ha!!

I've found parties are the easiest places not to drink as people just assume the glass of wine you've been nursing for 3 hours is 4 different drinks bought for you by different people!
    Good luck with it GLK!

I am so glad I don't drink very often, no one questions it when I don't drink so I won't have that problem!

Thanks Erial, I have got everything crossed but not getting too excited, I know where that leads!!

It's a sit down meal first - they'll all end up so drunk they won't notice me being sober!!

    Thanks for the ideas ladies.

So for ther record I'm an alcoholic who's driving and has a rather embarrasing infection that I really don't want to talk about - think that will stop the wondering!!

Yes, it has been a bit quieter on here of late, even though there seems to be loads of newbies!

Don't worry Grudie, they'll all be logging on tomorrow eagerly awaiting your Fridays topic! It's the highlight of my week xx

I have thought the same and cos it's quiet I then don't come on here as often.
GLK - antibiotics always a good one, or say your nursing a hangover form teh night before which is so bad you can't possibly drink again?

Saying that my dad will just slip me some money and tell me it's his treat bles him!
