Trying to conceive

Hello every one,
Feeling inspired by Peggs' post the other day, I feel it is time to introduce myself too! I too have been lurking for a while, but am now brave enough to come out of hiding! I think mainly because I am looking for somewhere to come on our TTC journey for friendly, non judgmental support!
As we got married recently, every one assumes that we will be having babies imminently, if I had a pound for every time I was asked if we had 'family plans' or told 'it'll be babies next' I wouldnt be sat at work right now! However, what people don't know is that we have actually been off contraception for almost two years now. I wouldnt say we were actively trying, but we will happy if nature took its course. However, we are now trying to ramp things up a bit, but all these comments from people just keep winding me up, but even if we weren't trying, I would be offended by them as whether we have children or not is surely no ones business but ours!!
Anyhow, sorry that my introduction post turned into bit of a rant, please don't let that put you off, I am nice, I promise!
In terms of where we are now, I have been monitoring my cycle for the past 2 years, mostly regular, but I have the odd phases where they are sometimes really short (21-22 days) or sometimes really long (35 days - though that's only happened twice). I was having monthly check-ups at the Drs end of last year/ start of this because I suddenly became dangerously anaemic, and he didnt feel that they were irregular enough to be a cause for concern. Other than that, I havent tried much yet. I am scared of temping, I just dont sleep, I am one of those people that wakes every 2 hours through out the night, plus I wake up silly early, but at different times everyday - does that have an effect?
Anyway, I will stop ranting for now. Thanks for reading and I look forward to getting to know you all xxx

Welcome and well done on coming out of hiding!
2 years is a long time, perhaps its worth using OPKs? If you really want to actively try that is. The short cycles may be a sign of short luteal phase (ovulation - AF), which is the time in which an embryo would implant -may be worth checking exactly when you ovulate to see if that's the case. x

Hi and welcome!
Rant away it is so annoying when people assume, I hate the 'you'll be next' comment!

Well, that's my next plan Rod, and am thinking of trying OPKs this month though no idea what I am doing! I am sure I will learn. We are definitely trying going forwards. The short cycles really don't happen that often, Only once this 10 months or so and a couple of times the year before that. I suppose I only mentioned it because it stuck in my mind as it was unusual, but we will see, ready to try anything now!
It's so annoying though isn't it Lulu, my boss is the worst, he is a HR nightmare!! We were talking about a big project that's due to come up for renewal next year and the work involved in it is massive, when we went through it a few years back it was crazy. I mentioned in a light hearted way how I cant believe it is here again and Im still worn out from last time and he said 'don't know what you're worried about, you'll be playing babies by then'. If only it was that simple!!

Hey, somebody else who is new :-). We've been getting those questions for months and we are not even married yet. If MIL had it her way I'd be waddling up the isle 8 months pregnant. Let's hope we aren't on this board for too long. X
