    Hello ladies

I have just returned from having a pelvic scan, internal scan and an HSG.

None of it hurt at all, the internal and the HSG were a bit uncomfortable ( period pain is worse) but it really was nowhere near as bad as I had feared or read.

I had googled HSG over the weekend and am a bit cross that I believed some of the truly awful descriptions, because in the end it was actually no worse than a smear. I'd got myself into quite an anxious state but the medical team were wonderful and just talked to me throughout and really calmed me down. The HSG was about 5 minutes max.

I took paracetamol and ibuprofen before and had a few drops of Bachs rescue remedy to calm me down and I am sure that helped.

The good news is, they've found nothing wrong.I've had a little cry with relief and apart from some horrible cramping now, I am ok.

Thank you all for your lovely messages beforehand, you helped ease some of my worries. I hope I can do the same for anyone else about to have this done.

    xx:\)

    Hi Em J
when is your HSG? Please don't stress about it, its really nowhere near as bad as your imagination .
The whole thing lasts barely a few minutes and it will be over before you know it.

We've been trying 9 months but at 39 they referred me immediately after I saw the GP.

Feel so much better having seen the scan- its actually fascinating!

    good luck hun xx

hello manologirl....so glad all went well for you and everything is ok, what a relief. I don't post much and haven't been on BE for a while as ttc had become all too much for me...mainly post on lttc now but do go between the two....
I am having a lap and dye on thursday which I think is essentially tha same thing as you but I have a general anaesthetic....they think I have endometriosis, so that is probably why they opted for that rather than a HSG.
I really keep my fingers crossed for you for your BFP very soon....thinking of you...good luck x

Hi manologirl, that's great that it went so well and everything is looking normal. They do say a lot of people have increased fertility immediately after having an HSG, so I really hope this is the case for you and your BFP shows up soon x
