Trying to conceive

Just wanted to start this thread to speak to ladies in a similar position.....here's my story:
I am 27 and OH is 34 in a couple of weeks. I came off the Microgynon Pill in April and we started activiely TTC in June. I have since had 4 cycles where nothing has happened. I honestly weren't expecting to conceive straight away but as my cycles are getting longer each month I'm losing hope.
So my cycles while on BC were 28 days. After stopping BC my cycles in May, June and July were 35 days long. I don't know what date I ovulated as I weren't testing at the time. My August cycle was then 41 days long and my last cycle was 44 days long. I ovulated on CD30 last month as I did OPK's.
I am at the Dr's tonight to see if they can help me in anyway but I wondered if there were any ladies out there who were in a similar position or ladies that have had long cycles, late ovulation dates but have been successful and got their BFP.
I have recently started taking Agnus Castus and I have also ordered some Prengacare vitamins. I have been taking Folic Acid since coming off BC.
Hope to hear from some lovely ladies,

i wanted to share my story with you. I fell with my 1st very quickly so was surprised as we tried for baby no 2 that it was taking so long 1.1/2 years !! I had a regular 30ish day cycle but as I started using opks realised I wasn't ovulating until 23/24, which wasn't early enough to conceive. On recommendation of a friend I started taking angus castus 2 a day the first week after 1st day of period then one a day until +opk I also had vit b6 20 mg a day. And after 5 months I got my + and due in march. Hope it works for you too

I did stop when I got a + as I had read that it was best to do so but I took the b6 every day. but you may wish to do your own research on that as b6 was to lengthen the cycle after ov, ?? All the best. Hope your dr was helpful.

Hi Angela, it took us a year to conceive our second child. In that time my cycles ranged from 27 to 50 days. When I finally got my BFP it was on day47 so I assumed I must have been 6 1/2 weeks but they dated me a week and a half behind that so I would have ovulated really late in cycle. There is hope!
saying that we have been trying for our third for 3 years I still have messed up cycles and currently on day56 going absolutely crazy! 3 negative pg tests but load of symptoms x

Hi Rach – Hmmm that is very odd, the pill clearly does strange things to our body when we stop taking it L I don’t blame you, just BD as much as you can and hopefully that will work!
Hi Donna – I shall have a proper read up about Agnus Castus and also will look into the B6. I have ordered the Pregnacare conception and tbh I’m not sure what is included in that so I shall have to look at that also.
Hi Fiona – It’s so frustrating isn’t it when your cycles are long as I feel like the odds are against us from the offset and the waiting around isn’t nice at all. It definitely gives me hope though hearing the successful stories from ladies with long cycles. Have you been looked at by doctors re your long cycles or not? You may just be one that takes a while to get a positive hpt as I have seen that plenty of times too. I am going to try the laid back approach but just do OPK’s as I do like to know if/when I am ovulating.
Well I went to the Dr’s last night and was quite impressed that she is sending me to the hospital for a pelvic ultrasound to rule out PCOS. She said she doesn’t think it will be that as I am young but said she will send me anyway. If that comes back clear then they will do blood tests. But she did say that the pill will probably only just be out of my system. The cheeky bugger also told me I should try to lose some weight. I am overweight, but I am not massive. I am 12.4 and 5’5...size 14 in clothes. I am currently healthy eating and I have lost a stone altogether in the last year.

Sorry just realised you got your positive yesterday so tomorrow you will be 1dpo It's definitely not as simple as you imagine it's going to be. We certainly will get there...just a waiting game x

I came off Microgynon in April and we have been actively trying since June...I have had 4 cycles since June. I know it isn't long at all and I am trying not to let it get to me too much as I know there is still plenty of time. I think we just HOPE it's going to happen within the first 3 months but don't really understand how low the statistics are until we start researching! I had in my head I wanted to get a BFP before Xmas but I will only have one cycle before then so not very hopeful. I have now extended it to a year...so June x

I went off Nuvaring in Jan 2013 and have had 32-35 cycles until August when I had a 41 day cycle. I had been travelling the whole month and just assummed that was the culprit. I had been doing OPK until August and had positives on days 20/21. I am now on day 44 (32-35 day cycles) with no sign of AF and countless BFNs. This cycle I had an LH surge on days 22/23. Minimal spotting and cramps/pinching of day 35. Expecting this to just be a weird cycle, but hoping for a BFP. My goal was to be preggers by June, perhaps next June. If I could tell my younger-self one thing, it would have been to use altertaives to the BCP. Good luck ladies.
