Trying to conceive

Sorry I haven't been posting much lately, I've been trying the relaxed approach to TTC! Not sure it works though!!
I'm currently on CD 50 and no sign of AF, before now my cycles had varied between 28 and 33 days, I'm in month 10 of TTC. I'm concerned as to why this long cycle is happening this month, I've no idea if I really ovulated or not. I've done 3 pregnancy tests all BFN. I did get a positive opk on CD 35 but I was also reading highs on my CBFM for days on end earlier in my cycle.
I called the Doctors surgery to try and get an appointment this morning and what a waste of time that was, they have no appointments and I couldn't even make one for January as they haven't released the appointments. They could only offer me a telephone consultation which is not what I want.
Has anyone gone to the doctors with long cycles to try and find out what is happening? If I can get an appointment will they just tell me to come back in a few months? Does anyone else have any experience of this kind of situation?

Sorry to hear your cycles are being naughty. I'm not sure what they would do with a one-off cycle. How long have you been off the pill for? I'd probably go to the doctors away - its good to get it on your records incase it happens again (although hopefully it won't). If I'm honest, I am not sure they will do anything at this stage, but they might be able to offer some advice / reassurance?

I have long/irregular cycles and was referred, but not until we had been trying 12 months, so they might tell you to come back in 2 months, or if you have a nice doctor they may refer you anyway as by the time you get your first appointment you'll be near the 12-month mark anyway! I think it'd be worth making an appointment, maybe take the telephone one as you'll still be able to speak to someone and they might advise you on their policy at least?
Hope things get sorted for you xxx

I have incredibly erratic long cycles as you know from our chats in the MTTC/TTC threads Dolly (they've been anything between 38 and 84 days).
They wouldn't even consider referring me or doing anything about them until we'd been trying for a year despite my history prior to the pill of also being abnormal. In September I went back and they agreed to do a blood test for me and a sperm analysis for my husband.
From that I then had an internal scan and a referral to gynae (not going there til 10th Jan) but as of yet I'm not 100% sure what the referral is for and whether it'll get me any closer to normal ovulation and hopefully a pregnancy.

Thanks ladies for the advice, I think I'll see how I'm feeling at the end of the week and maybe call again. I promised myself to try and forget ttc until the new year but my period going awol has just made me so frustrated!

I had long, irregular cycles before conceiving F. Since having him, my cycles seem to have settled down somewhat and seem to be pretty regular these days but I completely understand your frustration.
If it's bothering you, could you perhaps take the surgery up on their offer of a telephone consultation in the first instance? Maybe just running your concerns past someone might help a little?
