Just wondering if anyone has ever done a low GI diet?
If so how did you get on with it?
I have just looked it up due too a PCOS website telling me it's the best diet to do for PCOS, I have actually found some nice recipes and lots of information but just wanted some personal experiences, It sounds awesome and will help with other health related illness's
Food cravings and lethargy, Lack of concentration and mood swings, Diabetes, Heart disease
I am going to cut out all dairy, I don't really eat too much of it anyways just yogurts and cheese and milkshakes.
So any advice would be fab!

i did it for a while when i found out about my insulin resistance.
i cant claim it made a big difference to my life or weight.
i dont follow it religiously now as im on SW and find this more effective, however we do make sensible GI choices for instance wholemeal pasta and brown bread etc.

with PCOS the easiest way to make big changes is to cut out sugar, as the body cant process it! however thats easier said than done haha!
i also found any items you buy always go for the full fat version, as PCOS can break down fat, however when something is made low fat the fat is replaced with sugars, so although something is low fat its normally high in sugar.

I have a number of cook books for low GI cooking and generally we stay away from white starchy carbs. I always feel heaps better for it, particularly at work in the afternoon as I no longer want to fall aslepp on my PC! I don't find it difficult at all and it's just a matter of developing a new habit and new way of thinking about shopping and recipes. We aren't hard core so occassionally we'll have white rice but we don't ever have bread in the house and I can't tell you the last time we made pasta!
