    Hi ladies,

Found this site a few weeks ago and am fast becoming addicted! Wanted to say hello and also ask for some advice/reassurance.

I came off the pill after 14 years on 26 June (having only taken 8 pills of a pack) and had my withdrawal bleed on 2 July. On 6 July I had quite strong stomach cramps similar to the ones I used to have prior to atarting the pill. I was then fine for awhile but for the last 2-3 weeks I have had almost daily cramps, low back pain, extreme tiredness and, more recently, nausea.

I went to the Dr for a smear 2 weeks ago and she said that most women start ovulating immediately after coming off the pill and do not have any 'withdrawal' symptoms. She just said to keep an eye on things but suggested that I could be pg.

It is now 38 days since I took my last pill and no sign of AF but I did a FR yesterday and BFN (just my luck... for awhile there managed to convince myself that I would be one of the really lucky ones!!).

Is this normal? Has anyone else had symptoms like these after coming off the pill??? I'm starting to get really fed up of feeling like this and am worried that it might continue for some months. Hubby and I have decided not to tell people that we are ttc and therefore I can't tell anyone about this.

Sorry didn't want to read and run. I stopped taking my pill about 2 months ago now, and the first cycle I had after stopping I had a lot of nausea, cramps etc, convinced myself I was preggers!, but unfortunately I wasn't, think it may have been my body adjusting after 12 years on the pill.

Don't know if that helps, you never know you might be pregnant tho, its does happen, maybe try another test in a few days?, if you are pregnant your hcg levels should be doubling every 48 hours
Fingers crossed for you x x

Hi, welcome to BE. I stopped the pill last month too, but took all my pills. I had exactly the same symptoms as you the past week or so and thought I was pg, but got my first AF after 29 days.

Seems that it's very common to get pg-like symptoms with AF.

I would test again in a few days as mrscol suggests.

    Good luck! x
