Trying to conceive

Some background for those of you who don't know me:
H and I have been trying just over a year now and we both went to the docs back in June, we were told we have to try for 2 years before getting a refferal but were sent for SA and 21 day bloods, both of which came back ok. My doc said if we still had no luck in 6 months to go back and she would try and refer us early. As I am an impatient so and so we have decided in the mean time to go for private fertility testing, I am very lucky that I can get the majority of the cost covered by my insurance.
So my question is this, what happens if we do get a NHS refferal next year? Do we go and have a consultation first to discuss everything? I believe the private clinic we are going to would be the one we are reffered to, would we need to have the tests done again? Also does anyone know what kind of waiting time we could face?
Many thanks in advance for your replies, I like to try and have as much info as possible so I can be as prepared as possible for what we have ahead of us. xx

Before I start I think you are doing the right thing, you are extremely lucky that you are covered with your insurance so definitely make the most of it. In terms of waiting time, because you're going private I would think you'll be seen pretty sharpish. You'll definitely have an initial consultation to discuss your case, and they may send for your medical notes to see your results of your bloods and SA. I would then imagine they'll organise for you to have a HSG and then take it from there really. I would try and not think beyond that because you don't know what can happen in the meantime. So concentrate on one step at a time. I wish you all the very best of luck. xxx

Thanks for your reply Claire, it is nice to know I am doing the right thing as I have thought am I just being impatient. I called the clinic yesterday and I can go in as soon as my next cycle after my holiday starts (I could go this cycle but h wants to wait for next one once we are back).
What I'm wondering is what happens when I go back to the NHS in Jan, would I have to have the tests again or could I go straight on the waiting list for treatment? I'm hoping by having the tests now not only am I finding out what is wrong (or not wrong as the case may be) but I'm also saving myself time and the NHS time and money (by not having to pay for me to have the tests). Sorry if this doesn't make sense I think I am trying to get all my thoughts out and rambling lol!

Oh sorry Lu, yes you'll go straight on the waiting list for treatment, that's of course only if you need it, you will not have to undergo any retests.
