Hi I'm new here
Just wanting some advice .
I've not had af for 6 moths so I'm wanting to try agnus castus .
I bought some online but I am weary of taking them as I know nothing about it
Could anyone advise me on where I could get some ? And what brand etc . My local holland and barett store only sell 4mg ones
Any advice would be appreciated

Boots but they are only 4mg aswell
How come you haven't had af for 6 months? Do you have pcos? If so it might be worth asking your gp to prescribe metformin it worked well for me it brought my cycles back down to 32 days when they were 90+.
I tried agnus castus but it lengthened my cycles so I ended up switching back to metformin

Hi Ellarosemummy thanks for your reply
I have no idea why I haven't had af . I presume I do have pocs , but I went to my gp last week only to be told to go back in 6 months . So I'm willing to try any thing to bring af back

I would seriously get a different opinion from another gp as they shouldn't be allowed to let you go that long without a period, it can't be good for your body going that long without one.

I have had a look online for natural ways to bring on af: a few options below
Drink 2 cups of ginger tea a day (causes uterus to contract)
Take high doses of vitamin c
Or the morning after pill can sometimes cause bleeding

Thanks for your help ill try the ginger tea .
Well I thought he would at least try an find out why I hadn't had a period in that long , but he just dismissed it as if it was normal. Very frustrating , I'm going to give it another few weeks then ask to see another gp

Hopefully the ginger tea works for you and hopefully you find a gp who is more understanding and will run some tests to find out the cause of the lack of af

I've been looking into using agnus castus too. Don't know a whole lot about it other than it's a herb and supposed to be good for regulating cycles. my periods have been irregular since removal of implant over a year ago.
Ive ordered mine from amazon and it's 1000mg of agnus castus twice a day (I think, might be once!) and its advised to take from cycle day one until ovulation, test on 14dpo and if bfn, back to taking it again. I'm not sure what you would do if you have no AF at all though? x

My AF has been all over the place since coming off the pill 14months ago. I went 6months without on and docs took blood but because they were all clear they weren't bothered so I started reflexology and it got them back but only every other month. I started Angus castus at the end of my last af 17th feb they're 1000mg and I took 2 a day first thing in the morning. I finally ovulated on 19th March cd35. I reduced it to one tablet at this point as I have a short luteal phase and need it in my system at the crucial point. I'm now in my tww waiting for even a AF or a BFP. Either way my cycle will have been slightly shorter if AF arrives il go back up to 2 tablets a day and if I finally get my BFP after 14months il stop the Angus castus

Oh good luck mrs bear! I really hope you get your bfp. I'm going to start taking them today x

Thanks oxytocinlove. My theory is herbal is a safer less intrusive route than the medication that docs will give you and as the pill has messed my body up this much, going to the docs for medication is my last resort. Hope it works for us all

If I remember correctly I think your supposed to stop taking it once you ovulate.
29/03/2015 at 10:56
Yep just double checked you definitely need to stop it once you have ovulated as it can affect the embie x

Yeah I feel the same mrs bear! I will never use another hormonal contraceptive again! 17 months since I had the implant removed and AF still hasn't regulated. Only been TTC since Jan though x

Ellarosemummy- there's alot of conflicting research into Angus castus. Some people say stop after ov and others say don't. There's no actual proof that it can damage the embryo. I've chosen to reduce the amount but continue with it until I get a positive test or a AF. I have a long cycles and a short luteal phase so there's something I'm lacking in my body and im hoping the Angus will help with this. Everyone feels different about it but you have to make the choice that best suits you
oxytocinlove- if I had known all these years that taking the pill like clockwork will completly ruin your body then I would have been more careless with it! As soon as I get pregnant and have a bubba il be trying again when I'm healed

Thanks for all the replies , AF finally arrived on Saturday about 5 months after it was meant to . Now I'm unsure as to what to do , I don't know whether to wait another month to see if af arrives again or to start taking the agnus castus.
Really wanting to start ttc

Im nearly 7 days late no AF. I had probs last month too with my AF as it was one day only which i hoped would been inplantation but wasnt ofcourse, tested negative. i know its not a BFP now because even tho we are ttc this month we never did any as we were arguing. So i dont knw whether stress maybe got to me to be late but no sign of AF yet. Iv never had AF probs before so i dont knw why this is starting. Has anyone missed a period??

New to this site and trying to conceive :-) Im 42 so its not going to be easy. However I would like to give hope to anyone who has not had regular periods. I had no periods for 10 years- for most of my 30's. I started agnus castus on a whim one January and within 2 weeks I had a bleed. I was so shocked I thought it was something else and that I had some serious medical problem! I did not get another bleed for 6 months and that time it was a heavy period- I was so happy as doctors could not explain my problem except the usual eat more, exercise less and your periods will resume. Im a size 12 and was a 10 then so really don't know if that was the cause. Anyhow, a 28 day cycle ever since and it has to be the agnus castus!
I have a question now- just started Clomid 50mg and I ovulated on it. Wondering should I stop taking agnus castus though, just started back on it and now thinking it may not be wise if ttc?
Thank you! xx
