Trying to conceive

I'm new to this!
TTC for 6 months now (charting etc too) but I'm def not ovulating. No temp shift, bleeding every 2 weeks (not heavy, just like medium to light period). No EWCM, irregular temps... My doc just won't take me seriously - he keeps saying it's normal, I need to be patient, it takes time...I get all that, I really do, but I'm not even ovulating so it's not that it takes time or I need to wait - the basics aren't happening I'm not overweight or underweight (9st 2, 5'6"), very fit, eat healthily - all the things they say to do, I already do. I've had blood tests for under active thyroid; all hormones were 'normal'.
I don't know where to turn because don't I have to go through my GP for everything? Frustrating to think I'm not being taken seriously, particularly as I also have PCOS (not all symptoms of it, literally just irregular cycles and cysts, nothing else), so the chances are I will need help.
i just feel as though I'm wasting time waiting when it's not just that we're not conceiving...it's that the fundamentals of periods and ovulation aren't even happening.
Where can I turn now? Do I have to go through my GP to get help? I know it's only 6 months, but it's 6 months waiting for an actual period, not actually TTC.
Thanks to anyone who can help/shed some light on this xxx

Hi wooH, firstly I'm sorry to hear you have had this from your doctor, problem is they see it so often they just don't seem to care!! can ask a couple of things. Were you on contraception like the pill or coil six months ago before you started trying? Did you have regular periods before?
if it was me, I would change doctor first of all, tell them you've been trying for a year. By changing doctor they should take you more seriously. Secondly you can help yourself to kick start your cycle. Theres a fertility tea called fertlitea by haven, it's got vitex in it and will help regulate your cycles. Or you could just buy vitex, red rasberry if you'd prefer. Hope this helps xx

Thanks, Levi_Pink I think I'll do that! Heard about Agnus cactus (?!?!) or something - any ideas?
I had a bout of no periods about 6 years ago, and after fighting for a year of being told, "You're just stressed", they tested and realised I had PCOS. They said to not use the 21 day pill because it would mask PCOS symptoms but after having to rely on condoms when newly married (ugh!), my new doctor recommended the 28 day pill (used Cerazette). He said it would essentially 'freeze-frame' my system and give it a kick once off it. My periods weren't regular when on that but before, when I wasn't on the pill, they were pretty regular, once they returned after the time with none. I remember getting ovulation pains, ewcm, and things being like clockwork! As you can imagine, now we really, really want to try for a family, it's soul-destroying to not even have a proper period, not ovulate, not a regular temp pattern...and then to not be taken seriously. I've devoured the 'Taking Control of Your Fertility' book and everything I've read in there screams that my cycles are abnormal - why won't my doc therefore believe it? Like I'd want the stress and make it up?!
It's massively comforting to read these forums and know I'm not alone though I love this site already! xx

WooH, hi there. Yes it's a fab forum, join us in the testing testing bfp thread, lots of lovely girls in there trying and we chat often. Always room for a new one! Yes Angus cactus is vitex just another name for it. Give it a go! It's herbal. Won't hurt. Gave me any first period after ages of waiting. I went to my doctor because I never have had regular periods. They treated me early cos of that. Good luck Hun xx

Hi have you tried clear blue digital ov sticks? I have found out I have my second ov cyst on left ov, last one 2006 and borderline so removed. This one found in April was from nagging gp to see gyna as we had tried for 8 months with no joy and all bloods normal range. They found cyst and recently they have confirmed cyst will be removed with left ov and tube in late aug. they have also confirmed pcos in right ovary. I am overweight need chlomid but they can't do until BMi is 31 if I need ivf it needs to be 30 or lower. First if all 2nd opinion would be good and ask for a referral to infertility to discuss managing pcos also they are still telling me I'm not ovulating but the sticks tell me otherwise !! Good luck and baby dust

Hi KP Nuts Thanks. That's really interesting about your bloods; I got exactly same results as you, no problems so they said, "Keep trying"...
I bought the monitor the other day but not sure about using it while I'm having such irregular bleeds. Could be expensive if I'm not ovulating, I want to wait until I know I am then I won't be constantly disheartened. My husband is being brilliant but I don't want to just sit around wasting time waiting for things to happen when it's unlikely they'll just start themselves, when I'm already doing everything they tell you to do (eat healthily, exercise, keep bmi low, etc).
I feel like bride-zilla, but with baby-making! Argh!
Sending much baby dust to you all! xx
