Trying to conceive

This is a new continuation thread for the long-running Ovulation strips folks, as the original thread (http://www.madeformums.com/forum/trying-to-conceive/ovulation-test-strips/166108.html ) has become a bit epic, and now has so many pages, it's getting a bit hard to load.
We've posted a link to this new thread on the old thread, so hopefully everyone will be able to find it easily enough.

Hey cberg! Sorry i went straight from my appointment to work & only just got home so apologies for the delay in updating. Well... So far its all ok! baby is in the right place, has a nice yolk sac & heart rate is 100bpm. Doc says that's 'borderline' normal (should be 100 by 51/2 - 6 weeks) but I'm not worried about that as even if my dates are absolutely spot on I'm still only exactly 6 weeks today & although its on the low side of normal... The range isn't massive for this early anyway... Like 10bpm between highest & lowest.
i have another scan booked for feb 13th when i'll be just 8 weeks... He says the heartbeat should be up at 140something by then if all is ok... But he ended by saying that he really thinks this one will be ok... So I'm smiling, thanking god, praising my little bean & holding onto that! X

Hey ladies, so I'm using my OPK's this month for the first time ever and I was really confused about how they worked but I've been testing for a while now so getting the hang of it, anyway wanted to ask you all your advice on when to BD. I had a slightly darker line yesterday on CD15 so we BD'd last night, I've tested again and have got my first positive so we'll also BD tonight and tomorrow night, shall we BD again on Monday (2 days after positive) and will that be enough?
Need your advice/wisdom!
Also, I thought I OV'd on CD14 so was completely out, it's actually been CD17 this month so I'm glad I used them!
Congratulations SW2, I'll keep everything crossed for you too!

I have two days of positives his and then ovulate the day after so Monday would be a good idea however I have been pregnant following bd two days before ovulation so it depends on his swimmers x

Thanks janice, cberg & jos.
jos... As the sperm can live for up to 5 days your fertile window is actually like 6 or 7 days long... The 5 days running up to ovulation & then the day of / day after (if you ovulate late on the prev day & can have sex super early the day after as the egg only survives 12-24 hours if not fertilised).
So if you had a positive opk today.... You will ovulate sometime in the next 12-36 hours.... If you take the longest (36hours) that would be sunday night... So the egg could potentially still be ok monday... So yes... Bd'in monday (pref morning) would be good too if you can.. But... If you dont get chance on monday then i wouldnt worry too much.... You'll be covered with the other days.
if you're not lucky this month then next month... Based on your positive opk on cd16 i would start bd'in every other day (or every day if you like!) from cd12 onwards (so you have a ready & waiting army of sperm to catch the egg) then every day as soon as you get your positive.
