hi every1- im new here- i have a 4 yr old daughter... my partner and i have decided we would love another- and plan to start trying end of september.... im very worried i will not be able to get pregnant- due to struggling with anorexia/ ednos for last 3 years- my periods are very light and last 3 -4 days... i weigh about 6 stone 5 now... trying desperatley to gain weight to help me and our plans.... my partner just seems to think it will happen straight the way! he doesnt read all the info like i do!...
does being underweight affect hormone balance and so on?...

    Hi & welcome.

I don't know if it will affect hormone balance but as I guess you are already aware it can affect getting pg. But as you are having AF (periods) that is a good sign that your body is getting back to normal.

Do you know if you are ovulating? I don't know if the docs may be able to test you earlier due to your medical history? This will be the one thing that could be a problem as if you are not ovulating you will not fall pg.

Start taking folic acid as you need this to protect the baby if you fall pg. you may as well start taking it now as it does you no harm, and then you continue taking it up until the 12th week of pg.

Good luck and I hope it works out for you xx

hi and welcome. i was only a stone heavier than you when i fell pregnant with my LO and i was on the pill. everybodys body is different, you could try talking to your gp about it and he/she may suggest some vitamins so you have the right nutrition for a growing baby, good luck xx

IWAP = good advice - I didn't think of that!!

Pregnacare is a good supplement to take and your doc may be able to suggest anything else you may need

Good luck and we are always here xx
