Inspired by my NZ post, i thought i'd see if anyone else has any plans before ttc? I know there's a lot of weddings etc, but is there anything you'd like to do or achieve before losing your DINKY Status?

And what about those who are already mummies? xx

I'm already a mummy so not really got any big plans as such but we would like to move beforehand. We're only renting and are in a flat at the min, we have however just put in for somewhere else and should find out if we've been sucessful in the next week (fingers crossed).
Also need a new car as struggle for boot space with just rhys no chance with two. And oh will hopefully be working again after being made redundant in JAnuary.
Ok so they are quite big things what I meant was not very exciting things lol

Well we've already had a couple of weekends away this year and will have a holiday together before ttc. We both want to go to OZ but that aint gonna happen anytime soon- mainly due to cost and time, so think it will be a few years away when LO is a bit older. There isn't really anything else! bring on ttc!

oh dear Mrs Rodders - this is the type of thread that could stall my TTC plans

I had always said i wanted to climb Mt Kilimanjaro before having kids and I wanted to do a 2 month journey through Central America (Mexico, Belize, Guatemala) to see all the Mayan temples - but I think both of these will have to be postponed.

Kili is going to be too expensive - and i need at least 6 months to prepare which would mean putting off TTC for another year just in case

Central America is on hold anyway due to the swine flu outbreak - but also finding time - hubby won't be able to take a 2 month break from work for a year or 2 (unless he gets made redundant) so i think this will have to wait
although central america would be a great place to take kids when they get to about 5 / 6 yrs old so we might just leave it til then

on a more realistic note - we are off on holiday to an "adults only" hotel (while we still can) and i need to finish the software i am working on before we have a baby (so that i have some income even if no maternity pay)

i've already ticked off most of my major experiences that can't be done when PG or with young children
eg Skydiving, scubadiving, walked the inca trail, backpacking, mad partying all night

Moving seems to be a popular one!! We bought our perfect home 2 years ago and have just about got it all as we want it - with the exception of the nursery!!

Mrs Allen... the uniform soon loses its appeal!! Hubby was in the army when we met and is now a fireman - cant say wither particularly do it for me!!!

MrsRaf - wow!! You've bn a busy lady!!! xx

Nope, done my planning and now ready to move on up the ttc ladder! LOL

Aside from the usual ones like lie-ins, enjoying 'dodgy' food, wine, the only other thing I am ticking off is running a marathon (actual date is Sunday ladies, eek!).
Once that's out the way the list of getting married, our perfect home, having had a sports car, travelled, bought gadgets, partying/gigs is complete!

I bet I have a thousand things to add once I get my BFP and it will be too late, so if any mummies have experience of "make sure you do this/that" please share!! Thanks.

Before I had DD I wish I had appreciated my body pre-stretchmarks and had a sexy photo shoot to remind myself I wasn't half bad pre-baby. LOL.

I plan to enjoy my wedding, hen do, nights out and lie ins, which I currently get every 2nd weekend when dd is at her dads. Also to appreciate anytime oh and I get together, which is scarce as it is with him working so much. I would love to move but won't be able to afford it for years, and I'd rather have another lo. I also want a new car, and to be able to afford a lovely maternity wardrobe, which I didn't have last time. Ooh, and I also want to redecorate this place even though it was only done last year x

pre baby I hated my body too. Nearly 5 years on I appreciate it more, and have a lot more confidence. When I go on a night out I can look in the mirror and think 'hey mrs you ain't half bad'. I wish I hadn't wasted so much time picking faults with myself ,then as if I think I'm fine now I must have been a million times better then, with no stretchmarks, thinner, pert boobs, bum and tum. It was so many wasted years of moaning about how ugly and unperfect I was, when I was fine, and just didn't appreciate what I had. Sorry touchy subject. lol xx

    You sound exactly like me!!

I know in the grand scheme of things i am quite lucky with what i've got and hubby LOVES my body - but that doesn't make me any more comfortable with it. We argue about it sometimes cos he tells me how beautiful i am all the time but i just think he thinks its what i want to hear. He wishes i'd just say thank you and accept it.

Sorry, bit of a rant there but i do have a lot of insecurities!! Not all the time admittedley, but most of it!! x

    Before baby:
I worked in Kenya, travelled in India, trekked into the Rwandan volcanos to see gorillas, took a small boat into the north Pacific to see wild killer whales, saw humpback whales off USA, learnt how to ski, partied a lot!

    Things I did when pregnant:
Last ditch adult holiday to the Caribbean - went snorkeling and lay around a lot.

Things to do before next baby:

Move to a bigger house (boring one I'm afraid), persuade my OH that we should get another dog (we lost our JRT earlier this year  ).

Things I can't wait to do with the children when they're older:
Go on a camping safari around the main Kenyan reserves, take them to Florida, teach them to ski, do the Inca trail, take them back to Canada (our honeymoon).

Maybe I also need to get a promotion!!

The way I see it is that my life hasn't ended now I have children. I can't wait for them to be part of it.

    H xx

ooh blondefriend i'd love to see the gorillas and whales! we had the chance to see whales when i was backpacking in NZ but my travel companions didn't want to take the time out of partying

i totally agree about life not stopping - i plan on taking my future children on tonnes of exciting adventures (eg my central america plans)
no way do i plan on sitting around some over-commercial, overly-english holiday resort and shove my children into some hotel kids-club for 2 weeks a year - there are actually lots of companies now specialising in "family adventures" - basically for people who liked exciting travel before having a family and now want to continue with their children
(eg Explore, Exodus, The Adventure Company) ooh i'm getting excited already
