Hi Samiad. I've read about them but I didn't bother going for one. I mentioned we were planning to TTC last year to the nurse in my practice and she just advised me to track cycles and return if anything wrong - she didn't suggest a checkup but I didn't ask either. I had just had a smear and didn't particularly want any more poking around down there! (Plus I wanted to get out as fast as possible!)
I would suggest ask your GP and see what he/she says - can't hurt to ask!

I haven't heard of them either but there is no harm in asking your gp especially if you are worried about your cycle since coming off the pill. I had a smear at the beginning of our journey but that is it.

I've read about them but didn't have one myself - I asked the nurse last year when I had my final pill review (I continued the pill for 6 months after the check) and she just advised to finish up the pill and start folic acid, nothing mentioned about a check at all.

Thanks for your replies everyone, I think I will just mention it next time I'm in (unless AF is still absent in a few weeks anyway).

A few books I'd read have also said to go for a pre pregnancy check up. I was planning on having a smear & asking to see if I need any booster immunisations.
If you do decide to see the GP let us know how you get on

Hi. I went for a check up based on websites (i think it's mentioned on the NHS one). But my dr just looked v confused. He did check my vaccine record but that was it.

HI I had a pre-pregnancy chat with my GP but that is due to being on a few medications and I wanted to know if there would be any ill effects if i took them in early pregnancy, epscially the one i took before i was expecting a period to help with the pain. I was advised to stop taking them until I knew I wasn't pregnant. So i think if you regularly take medicines it is worth it if not I am not sure what you would talk about.
