    Hi Girls
I am on month 3 of ttc. My cycles have all been 28/29 days and I have just started to chart my temps this month. I am on CD17 and still not seen a thermal shift in my temperature, although I got positive ov sticks Sunday and today. So, Im guessing from this that I may have a short luteal phase? What does a short luteal phase mean? I am sure I read on here that there is something you can take to lengthen your luteal phase. Does anyone remember what it is? Nicki

I have a short LP, it means the length between when you ov to when you get AF, if it is less than 10 days it is classed as short LP, for instance I have between 23-25 day cycles but ov on CD14 so between 7-9 day LP. The egg needs about a 10 day LP in order to implant, however it is still poss to get pregnant with a short LP lots of girls on here have.

You can take vit B6 and AC to increase it,

    hope this helps

Hey Nicoad, if you are CD 17 today and ov yesterday / today, LP phase is usually 14 days or so until AF arrives. then cycle will be around 30 days long. If much shorter than this, then LP is short and B6 can help extend this. So count today as 1DPC (days post ovulation) - assuming you ov'd yesterday). Athough, many ov sticks tell you when you get a surge of Lut. Hormone, and so you should ov 12 - 36 hours after this surge, meaning today / tomorrow.
If you are concerned, monitor it for another cycle and then go to your Dr as they can help.

AC you take from CD1 (first day of AF) until you ovulate. It is not good for baby so dont take after Ov until you know you are pg or not. If not, continue to take on CD1 of next cycle and so on. B6 you take through out the cycle as far as I am aware.

From what I've read, it shouldn't really be a problem. The hormones in your body change their course as soon as the egg is fertilised, so whatever your normal LP is, the pg hormones will kick in, and change what you'd normally do.

And as others have said, loads of girls with short LP have conceived, so I shouldn't worry! Good luck.
