Trying to conceive

I'm booked in for a smear test next week which will be cd14, the receptionist on the phone told me to come mid cycle. Is it ok to have this done when ttc? I don't know when I'll ov but I'm wondering if I was to ov before, would having the test affect any chance we might have? This is only my first month ttc so to be honest I'm quite sure we won't catch first month but thought I'd ask anyway!

yes definatley ! get it done !
it wont effect your chances, cd 14 your eggs will be growing in their follicles ready to release, they are only looking at your cervix, they wont be up near your eggs lol

I need to book in for my first one, but after some googling, and reading a lot! It seems to be that it won't affect anything if you are TTC just let the nurse know,if there is a chance that you could be pregnant :)
I would prob try to book it before you ovulated due too not being able to DTD before your smear (I think)

to be fair i would try and book it straight after your AF or before AF as when your ovulating your cervix is higher and it may cause more discomfort?
i just know the chances of pregnancy do not out weigh the importance of a smear test ! ,

Thanks for your replies! I'll just let the nurse know we are ttc :-)
I'm not sure if I would have ovulated on cd14 or not as this is my first cycle really paying attention, I'll keep any eye out for signs!

Missed you there Monnie! I tried to book it for this week but the receptionist told me it had to be done mid cycle, I have read this before and my last smears were also done mid cycle. You are right though the smear test is important so I'll get it done!

I've always been told by the gp that it should be done mid cycle too, so I think mine had always been done around cd14.

I am going to gatecrash your thread now lol
If your really irregular and sometimes don't get a period every month do you just have a smear when ever? because some months I go without a period completely?
Hoping it may be different now I am on Inositol

When I had mine they didn't mind where in my cycle I was, just that I wasn't on my period. I did have to tell her when my last period was. Hth x
