At the weekend, I was talking to a chap who told me his wife was having their second baby in September and he said "she's a miracle baby. Another one."

When I asked him why he said he and his wife had tried to concieve for two years, were told that she had irregular ovulation and an 'inhospitable uterus' (?), whilst he had a low sperm count. They had two rounds of IV and had a daughter, now two. Miracle number one.

BUT they didn't even have IVF or ttc their second baby. They took no precautions and nature took its course.

He told me not to stress about ttc although he knew how hard that was - because it can and does happen even when you've been told it won't. Especially, in fact, when you've been told it won't!

I found it quite heartening, I have to say.

I know a couple like that who tried for about 8 years before starting IVF, after several attempts they fell pg with their first then she went on two have 2 very natural very healthy pregnancies with their 2nd and 3rd children! Another couple I know have just gotten pg after about 3rd attempt at IVF, she already has a 13 yr old from a previous relationship and got remarried last year, she had TWO ectopic pregnancies resulting in losing both tubes so IVF only option, she's about 41 as well so it gives me lots of PMA when I hear that somebody who has gone through all that still gets their BFP! All I say is never give up hope! xx

It proves it can be done! And it'll hopefully give us all some PMA for our own BFPs.
