Trying to conceive

Okay so if I dont fall pregnant this cycle I am thinking about adding OPKs into mynext cycle aswell as temping..
How do you do them? I mean what time of the day is best to do them?
Do you find they help or just add to confusion?
I have pcos so know they arent totally reliable but with temping also it should help shouldn't it?

I did them when I got home from work daily from about CD10/11 onwards until I got a positive. My positives always coincided with a temp rise so I knew they were right. I then stopped temping as I trusted the OPK's. I found that they made life a lot easier especially after TTC a while when I didn't want to DTD every couple of days throughout the cycle as I was fed up. It meant that I knew when to time DTD properly so I knew I'd done all I could. It also meant I knew when to stop and when I was in the 2WW, but also confirmed I'd ovulated. But I guess you do get that with temping, but OPK's give you a day or two warning so you know you aren't out yet.
You could try them whilst still temping and if you find that your temp doesn't rise after the positive, you know to carry on with the OPK's. But I know they don't always work with PCOS (although I have suspected PCOS).
Hope that makes sense x

I've never temped but found OPKs really helpful as although my cycles were regular they were 29/30 days and I ovulated around 17/18 which I'd probably given up by. I used to CB ones which show low, medium and high in the end as ICs gave me very little warning-I'd get a positive on the day of ovulation whereas CB ones would give me a few days notice (sometimes a week much to H's dismay!) the CB ones say use FMU which worked better for me as I live an hour away from work so to have a full bladder for four hours before I got home just didn't work for me as I'd often go before leaving work to make the journey home a bit more comfortable (if that all makes sense).

I used them the month we fell with W. I'm sure the packs give you an idea of the best time. I'm sure it's the same time every day in the afternoon.

I never temped but used opk's first thing every morning, which I think is the best time to do it. I bought the cheapie sticks but ended up buying the CB fertility monitor and got pregnant in the first month of using it.
Good luck CC.

I found OPKs really useful as they told me ahead of time when to get my timing right for DTD. I only temped for 2 cycles along side the OPKs but, for me, I found the OPKs much more useful.
I would normally ov between CD17-CD23 so I would start OPKs around CD14 and keep testing through a positive and up to 4 days after, just incase I got a surge but no ov and then my body tried again. I got ov pains normally anyway so I could confirm ov through that as well.
I tested after work every day so between 5-6pm. The ic OPKs should be done after 11am I think but if you are using any of the CBD ones then they are morning, however, that said I have used them in the afternoon as well. I used to buy the One Step ic OPK's from Amazon in bulk.
Best of luck xxx
