I saw what you'd asked on yesterday's thread about increasing CM. You are correct - it is Guaifenesin which is usually found in an expectorant cough bottle. See the wiki page - medical uses - other uses: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guaifenesin.
Toni Weschler (author of Taking Charge of Your Fertility) reckon it helps because, when taken for a cough, it thins the phlegm/mucus so why not work the same for the other end! I was worried that I never got watery or ewcm in my last few cycles - I seemed to get creamy and that was it. I read in Toni's book that you can take this stuff but when I googled it, it seemed like you had to pick a certain type etc so I continued googling and found a supplement which is supposed to promote good CM.
I took a supplement this cycle and have noticed ewcm for the first time ever! The supplement I take is very expensive (£26) and I'm not sure if it's worth it so, when I finish this bottle, I might just try a cough bottle on it's own.
Some more info on this:
Hope that helps!

I took Robitussin cough medicine when TTC my first two boys and it really helped.

Thank you for this lovely!! Can I ask what supplement you did buy? Hopefully you won't need to buy anything else!
I'm finding it really hard to distinguish between clear creamy and watery so even if I have to be a bit sneaky (H thinks it's a bit too soon to resort to things like this at our 4th cycle) it might have to be done!!

The one I take is this one: http://www.fertilecm.com. I got it on eBay and, although it doesn't have the guaifenesin, it's something similar; works the same way. I have the 'taking charge of your fertility' book which is great for cm, I'll dig out some bits for you that might be useful.

Is the book any good Tayto?

Yeah, I think it's great. I got it from a lady on here as I knew it was good for helping you with cm, lots more about fertility in there too. Well worth a read.

Contemplating downloading it but was just unsure.

Alaina - I missed your response when I was replying yesterday; if you don't mind me asking, how often did you take it? And was it all through the cycle or just on the run up to the fertile phase?
Mrs-T - I would recommend it but it's a big read - there's a lot in there!

Thanks Tayto, will get it downloaded I think. Only heard good things about it so no harm in a bit of bed time reading!

I took the dosage on the bottle, I think 10ml 3 times a day maybe (it was a while ago so hard to remember!). I think I took it from the end of AF to ovulation so about a week in total.

Thanks for this Alaina, I might try this on our next cycle - it's always nice to hear of success stories so it's not all just a myth! :-)
