Trying to conceive

Hi it's Mandy,
Sorry it's been a while. Loving the new look site though!!!
I finally got little one off the breast after doing a whopping 181/2 months (very proud of myself!) I have had two periods (real ones) as I stopped eight weeks ago today. I didn't realise how down you would feel afterwards as the shift in hormones change, but I am coming out the other side! It would be nice to hear from other people who had the same reaction to weaning the baby off the breast.
I started using the clearblue digital tests which are excellent, I got really excited as I got a surge, but unfortunately I was not pregnant, which I took quite badly as I thought we did everything at the right time. It took along time to concieve my daughter and I'm hope it does not take as long again as i'm getting a bit older now nearly 35 and I would like to be pregnant before that as your fertility take another hit and declines! (like we have not a raw enough deal with getting pregnant in the first place!)
If anyone has any tips that would be great. I know it is early days and I know it can take a few months for your body to get back to normal, but as my body is saying that it ovulates, that has got to a good sign, doesn't it?
I've got alot of people getting pregnant around me again, it seems like I am last in line again! (although my baby daughter was worth the wait!) I just like to believe now my body knows what to do, it should not take as long!
I do suffer with a bit of stress and I am trying to stay calm and relax as I do run a busy household with adopted 81/2 twins aswell! I am thinking of taking up accupunture again and I am exercising again as I was really into it before I fell pregnant! I also walk alot.
I'm ready to go back into battle this month and go on a sort of marrathon! and hope for the best and if anyone has any other ideas that would be great as I really feel ready to get pregnant now and i'm hoping to be more relaxed and take a little more in my stride and also have a home birth as I did without any drugs apart from a little gas and air last time!
Speak to all soon, it's great to be talking again!

I'm Cheryl and ttc no 1, this is our third month of trying now. I have been using the ovulation tests to but never get a surge! I too get very stressed with work so hoping that won't have too much of an effect. So sorry can't offer any advise, just wanted to say hi x x

Hi Mandy. So impressed that you did over 18 months of BF, I thought I was doing well having managed over five so far. Not sure I could do 18 months, but I want to do as much as I can up to a year or so.
Tips - well, it took me 9 months with the first, 15 with the second, but, what might help and certainly won't hinder, after sex, prop your hips up on a pillow or cushion to gravity helps the sperm head in the right direction and stay there for at least 20 minutes. Don't get up straight away and let it all drain away.
Best of luck, I hope it happens quickly for you.

Thanks for all your kind replies!!!
If it can happen for me on a £9.50 holiday by chance, after nearly seven years of trying it will happen for you cheryl!
I guess I am a little impatient, I do wander how people have more than one baby and close together, I guess it's plenty of the good stuff often (putting your legs up afterwards, good tip Nicolette!) and try and relax and get through the dreaded two week wait. If anyone has a tip apart from distraction to get through the two weeks, I would love to hear from you!
I am also taking Pregnacare Conception it's new. I always took Pregancare for conception, pregnancy and breastfeeding, but this has a little extra vit's in it! My fertility book also recommends some additional special vits that I took when I was trying for my first, so maybe I will use them again, I guess I thought now my body knows what to do I wouldn't need them, well what the hell!!
If anyone wants a list of the special vits for you and hubby let me know, I'm off to Holland and Barrett in the morning!
