Now 6 months into TTC I feel I really need to get my weight down to try and help our chances. I also did some research into IVF this week and found out I'd need to lose 2 stone before the NHS would give me fertility treatment. I've fallen on the rails with Slimming World this past fortnight so really need to get my *** back into gear. Anyone else trying to lose weight specifically to help their TTC journey?

No, not specifically for TTC but I am trying to cut back on some of the cr@p. I exercise a lot but also eat a lot which isn't the way to be doing it.
I'm starting again on the being good thing tomorrow morning!!!

They state a BMI JJ, it must be under 30.
If I fall pregnant I'm also hoping to continue with SW as well to reduce the risk of problems like GD.

I was going to start a post about this! I want to lose 1.5 stones and am setting it as a target for Christmas. Not specifically for ttc, more for pregnancy, labour and beyond. So for that I need it to be about fitness and strength as much as food and weight. I struggle to motivate myself for exercise though.

I need to get my inspiration back! We are doing better at eating better (have been reading about the benefits of diet for H and his swimmers!) but really really need to find the energy for exercising! Dark evenings don't help do they!

No the dark evenings make you just want to snuggle down on the sofa! I am continuously trying to persuade myself to go swimming!!!

It's so hard. The eating heathy & exercising is easier when it's warmer but still incredibly hard, when it's dark earlier it's even harder. Hope you're able to find the motivation. THere's a weight loss thread that has made been sticky at the top of the board. Maybe you could all post on there & motivate each other. Good luck x

I'd had a few pregnancies and hasn't shifted the weight. I looked into things and asked the gp to prescribe me high dose folic acid. If your bmi is over 30 you need high dose folic acid as you don't absorb the normal dose as much (same if u have crohns etc)
So I took that at followed slimming world too

I don't want to loose weight but I do want to get a bit fitter. I've been doing couch to 5k for a few weeks and i'm really enjoying it. (and I have never been a runner!) it's only half an hour three times a week and it starts really slowly and builds up. Totally manageable and easy to follow.

My weight has been creeping up and up since I got married. Today is day 2 of healthy eating! My motivation is a mixture of getting ready to TTC so want to be healthy but also feeling down about how much weight I've put on. I'm trying to look at it as a change of lifestyle rather than a diet.

I've been doing slimming world since May with the hope of losing a stone by the beginning of ttc. I've been taking it slowly so have still had treats (and August off!) and am on target

I think it's so great that we are all looking at working towards a healthy lifestyle. Fertility levels aside, when I am finally lucky enough to be a mum, I really want to be an active mum, and make sure that I can give my child a healthy diet, and a love of exercise.
Raincloud - Cto5k is amazing! I started out last January, having never been able to run, and in theseptemebr I ran a half marathon. I jogged at a slow pace, but never stopped once, and my time was 2hrs26mins...I recommend the podcasts to anyone who will listen.
AFM - I'm currently at SW, I joined back in July. Tonight's weigh in took me up to a 13lb loss, and I'm hoping to get my stone award and club 10 award next week. I don't have much more to lose...maybe another stone at most, but I think I will stay once I'm a target member, in order to help me maintain. I have a half marathon to run in ten days, but have been injured and so I'm severely undertrained. I won't be able to run it all, but hopefully I will be able to complete it.
