Sorry to ask you this ladies, but i thought who better to ask for advise regarding something i saw today... I was out shopping at sainsburys earlier and i was waiting in queue. This man came up to his son who was quietly looking at a magazine, grabbed him by the neck of his top and grabbed his chin really hard and shouted that if he walked off again he would rip his f***ing head off. and then dragged him away. The poor child couldn't put his feet down to walk. Then as i was walking out he was there again and was thumping him on the back near his spine and then kicking his legs so they buckled. Shouting that he should never have been born, santa would never visit him again and that he was fed up with him. I was so shocked that i followed them to the car where he basically threw him in with no seat belt. I took the number plate down and now i am thinking i should call Social services or police??

    What do you all think?

I agree, I think you should tell the 'authorities' whoever that may be - I would.

I agree - I think I would have to tell someone in authority. Would you be able to describe the man and the child? What about the car?

I just know that I would feel dreadful if you read at a later date about anything more sinister with that child's picture.

You'd be doing the right thing chick!

Well everyone, i said i'd let you know what happened. I called the Police this morning and they took all my details and i explained what had happened. I also gave them the registration for his car and they said they would follow it up and contact me.
Well, i felt sure they would put it to the side and i would hear nothing more - but at half seven this evening i was called by a DC and he told me that they had visited the home, everything seemed ok in the home. The young boy didn't have any marks on him that they could see.
Having said that the social services have been informed and they have to have a follow up with them for the next month. The bully grandfather said he was just being naughty and he needed to get him out of the store - RUBBISH!! He is a bully and god know what he does behind closed doors. And breathe!! (sorry, it makes me mad) x

    Hello minimonkey,

Well at least you have done what you could! Well done you!

I think that is really good that the police took it so seriously and followed it up straight away - I, like you, thought it would get "filed", but I am impressed - maybe in light of the baby P incident? I also think it was good of them to let you know what had happened!

Well done you for doing it though!

What a horrible man! I feel so sorry for the poor child. How old do you think he was? I'm glad you call the police and that they will be monitored.

Keep us updated if you hear anything else! xx

    ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Things like this really wind me up.

    What a poor soul.
At least you have voiced your concerns hun and with all the things which have been in the news lately, im sure the social services will look into it quite thoroughly.

You have definately done the right thing.
