    Hi girls

Have been reading lots of posts about +ves on opk's and am getting very jealous! I have never yet had a +ve on a test despite testing for the past 5 months, let alone one that lasted for a couple of days!! (am just joking, not really too jealous, just a little bit!)
Normally I get zilch - no line at all, but occasionally get a v. v. faint second line (ie: a negative!)

In other circumstances I would be totally panicking that I am not ov'ing - but I already have 2 children. Is it possible that i can have just stopped ov'ing completely, despite being able to conceive my 2 lo's fairly easily??!!

I wanted to know if there was anyone else in the same boat? Am getting very disheartened each time I poas and there is nothing there.

    Help!!!

You might just be missing your surge, what time of day are you testing? If you test first thing, you might be missing the surge. try testing midday or later.
I get a faint test line a couple of days before I get the darker positive line.

    Thanks popsicle

I have been testing at 6pm each day as i find it easiest to obey the restrict drinking/peeing rule prior to this time!!! Do you think I should be doing it later than this?

Have got 2 v.v.v. faint lines for past 2 days and am now on day 14 of a god-knows-how-long cycle! Maybe I should be hopeful that I will get a darker line in a few days?!

Hey there, how long do you test for, a few days or weeks?

This month I had totally given up hope on a +pos, I was on cd41 and felt really tired and had terrible cramps (thought I was pregnant) done a test and it was neg so I decided to do a OV test and it was +pos. I had tested round about cd11 until cd20 then gave up, so if I hadn't tested (ot of luck) I would have missed the surge!

What tests are you using? I use the cheap ones on E-Bay called One Step and they have always been spot on for me.

    Hope this helps

    sorry to gatecrash

    which opk's do you use?

i've never has a + on any of the cheapy ebay ones i bought. But i have used clearblue ones in the same pee and got smiley faces on them.so just be careful if its the ebay ones you use.
i know some people on here swear by them, but from my own experience i've never found them any good and friends trying have also said the same.

    Hi there

Annem - I normally test for a couple of weeks and get so demoralised with the -ives that I give up. Have never tested as late as CD41 though - normally give up around CD35! Will keep going this month - congrats to you for getting a +ve and what luck you happened to take the test!

Tasha - I use the access diagnostics ones from the internet as heard they were good. Originally started off with cbd but got soooo expensive as I was using 2 packs per month as my cycle length varies so much I have to start testing early and continue for ages.

Thanks for your replies, will keep going with the tests for a bit longer this month to see if anything occurs. Am also TRYING to bd every 2 days to give ourselves the best chance but with 2 lo's, this is very difficult to maintain for the best part of 40 days!!!!

    Hiya,
I used the cheapy OPKs from ebay (50 incl &P for under ??10) and they detected my surge, including the fade in/fade out, however, I tended to test at about 2pm each day, and if I started to get a line on the test section, then I would sometimes test again a few hours later to make sure I didnt miss the surge.

I think its one of those things that some people can get on with and some cant due to varying lengths of hormone surge, so I wouldnt worry too much if you arent detecting it with the OPKs, you are probably just missing it. As with anything though, if you are truly concerned then its worth having a chat with your GP about it and seeing what they say.

I admit I gave up using my cheapie ebay opks because I didn't get a +ive at all. I started charting my bbt to get an idea (obviously I get an idea AFTER the event!) but I just bd throughout the month.

I have just started ov cb as been diagnosed with pcos so dont know if I ovulate. I also have only had a blank so far............if I got a smiley face and knew I ovulated at least that would take massive pressure off...........

I'm another user that had to use them until day 40+ to get anything. The fade in only took one day: Tuesday, nothing; Wednesday a line that was nearly a positive; and then positive on the Thursday.

Like other people have recommended, try twice a day if you can (I found the peeing instructions weren't that relevant when I got a positive. I didn't drink for an hour or pee for half an hour of so). Don't give up hope: I did, but it turns out I shouldn't have.

    Hiya
I have never had a positive until last night. (although past 2 months didnt use them every day so prob missed it). The 2nd line wasnt quite as dark as the test line though so think thats not meant to class as a positive. Im cd17 and had a small amount of ewcm though yesterday and this morning so im taking it as a positive although I will do another one at 6pm tonight and see! I was going to start using twice a day until I got a near positive last night but now will stick to once I think.
keep trying with them - after so many negative results I was very excited last night to see a second line!
