Hi girls, wondering if anyone can help me understand something please:\?.....Just read on a post by Mrs Jules that a hernia op as a child can affect male fertility, was a little startled 'cause my hubby had one about 2 months ago and wanted to know why this could cause problems or is it just when they are young? amy x

Hiya Amy. Sorry for worrying you. I have read a few articles that say hernia operations can cause damage to the motility of sperm because it's possible that the blood supply was cut off temporarily to the groin during the op. I don't know if it is just when they are children or not. Can't find much on the subject except that if you are ttc and your hubby has had a hernia op then to see the doc for more info. Couldn't get in to see GP this week so MrJules is going to see them next week to ask about it. I'll let you know what they said. I do know that a friends partner had a hernia op and now has 3 children so I'm not as worried as I was, think it might just cause there to be a little less motile sperm than there would've been. Sorry I can't be much help. I still don't know myself. xxx
