Trying to conceive

I have just had my first ever m/c and lost twins, after having them removed I am now waiting to see the consultant in 4 weeks. Does anyone know how long it roughly takes to conceive as I feel I am too old as I am approaching 40 in a few months and fear I havent got long as my biological clock is ticking!
I have been told to wait until I have had at least 2 periods by doctors however feel I want to try asap any advice greatly accepted

You are most fertile at this point, and many people fall pregnant straight away. I sadly lost my little boy at 28wks and I fell pregnant on the first cycle after losing him. The waiting for a period is more for dating than anything else I'd say. I was told to wait 3 at first, then when I spoke to my MW she said actually, just wait the 1 - I was (and still am) quite strong and I think she realised this - she wanted to make sure I was OK mentally as well as physically.

This gives me a little bit of hope just got to wait patiently now as I only had my operation last Friday
But have started both myself and Partner on pregnacare muti-vits and have changed our diets, we are both starting to eat as healthy as poss to the guides on this site, whether they work or not I don't know but it gives me a sense of feeling a little better whilst we have to wait to see gynaecologist
Glad to see your pregnant again and good luck with everything

me and my husband took pregnacare conception too - so I'd say they worked
It took 7 weeks for my bleeding to stop after losing our wee boy, and a couple of weeks for my period to arrive - then as soon as it was gone I just worked out ovulation going by the signs I have learned on here (CM/EWCM/pains etc) and went for it.....lo and behold, first time round it worked. It took me 7 months to fall pg with our first baby, so I was so pleased that we managed the first month we were ttc

I take multi vits with folic acid once a day, not sure I should take pregnacare with it too as you can overdose from vit a... maybe my hubby can take them too?
