Trying to conceive

Hi, I've been a smoker since I was 18 and I'm now 37. Generally I haven't been a heavy smoker, smoking less than 10 per day, but I've been smoking nontheless.I also have had a drink problem in the past and had about 6 years where I drank far more than I should have, as I was suffering badly from depression.I have no children and am having problems. I had an ectopic pregnancy in January and recently had an early miscarriage. On both occasions I had stopped smoking before getting pregnant (I stopped 3 months before the miscarriage). I also cut back on alcohol on both occasiions, where I only drank a few glasses of wine about twice a month.I have read on the internet that smoking and excessive alcohol can cause an early menopause and now I'm worried sick that my eggs are really poor quality and I'm going to have an early menopause.I have stopped smoking now (after briefly starting up again after the miscarriage) and am trying desperately hard not to smoke. I have also cut right back on drinking.Part of me is thinking though, what's the point if my past smoking and drinking have already damaged my fertility beyond repair?I want to feel positively about stopping smoking and drinking and need to have some hope that there is still a chance I will be able to have a baby. Is there anyone who has been a long term smoker and/or a heavy drinker in the past and has managed to have a baby after the age of 35?Thank youJess

I haven't experienced the problems you have but didnt want to read and run. Cutting back on alcohol and smoking is a strong factor to TTC. Try and think positive hun and it will happen given time xx

Hi hun, if I told you what me and oh used to get up to before we were together and back in our younger days when we met, you would never believe that we have a gorgeous daughter and another baby on the way. my oh still smokes and enjoys a drink occasionally and I started drinking pretty heavily after suffering depression since last July right up until I found out I was pregnant in may. So try not to worry chick your doing everything right and giving ur body the best chance x
