Hi - I'm gate craching from ttc after mc, but thought maybe someone here might be able to help

Just can't believe it. Let me start from the beginning.

After the erpc at the end of September I had a bleed for about a week. A couple of days after the bleed hubby and I had sex. That caused me to have an awful bout of cystitis that lasted for about 7 days. I had blood in my urine and had to have a course of antibiotics.

My next af finished this Saturday, and on Saturday evening hubby and I had sex. Then yesterday I got cystitis again. I started drinking those special Caneston drinks and taking paracetamol, and this morning it had settled down. However just to be on the safe side I went to see the doctor this evening, mainly because this cystitis after af/sex is a new development since the erpc.

Anyway the doctor did a pee test which showed that I don't have cystitis. So he said there was no point prescribing me anything as I clearly wasn't ill.

Then I asked about ttc again, and the doctor told me that I should wait for another 4 months before starting to try again. I asked why and he gave me various vague reasons, partly he said to give my body a "rest" and partly because he said that I should wait to see whether this cystitis after af thing is a recurring problem.

I just don't get him. He told me I don't have cystitis.....in fact he kind of waved it off as just "tenderness" after having sex, and yet he also told me to wait 4 months before ttc just in case I DO have it! Plus when I pushed him on the time scale for ttc he was really vague too - first it was wait for 4 months, then wait for 2, then "there is no time frame really" ????!!!!!:\?

What do you girls think? We are due to start ttc again after my next af (ov should be the start of December), so we would have waited 2 months. I am so confused - what is he on about? Does he have a point or is he just being a c0ck?

I just don't know what to think now - I so want to start again, why is he telling me to wait? :\(

    (Also in ttc after mc/ectopic)

Hi, I didn't wanna read and run but not sure I will be much help. After my ERPC I was told to wait 3-4 cycles. I know some people are told to just wait one. We waited one before ttc but it took us 5. I got cystisis (sp??) during one of those cycles and had to contact out of hours GP cos it was a weekend. i mentioned ERPC and he said it wasn't linked cos was a few months after. i was given antibiotics and asked phamacist about ttc and they said it was ok (I asked cos the doc had put a note to use condoms if on pill - but that was incase it affected the pill working).
TBH I would just relax and just carry on ttc cos I know you hope it will happen next month but it could take you 4 months anyway. Do what you think best.

    Oh hun....

Firstly I'm sorry you miscarried and secondly I sympathise with your cystitis attack....they're bloody painful arent they?!?!

Your doctor sounds as if they were giving you advice based on a google 'ttc after miscarriage' search! 4 months seems a bit excessive to me. Maybe as you've had cystitis and tenderness you could leave it for 1 cycle but 4....that seems a bit excessive. The doctor sounded as if they were unsure too given that they gave you a number of different answers.

I'm a great believer in listening to your body. Only you know when you feel at your physical and emotional peak. Assuming you are both and you are ready to start ttc again i think your body will only do what it is capable of doing. Therefore if it isnt ready to conceive it wont and if it is BFPs all round.

    Good luck hun

Lots of love, luck and baby dust your way xxx

Oh huni I'm sorry. The way he kept changing his mind from 2 cycles to no-timescale to 4 cycles says to me he doesn't have a scooby. Hopefully some of the girls can share their wisdom with you but as Minkmou says if your body is ready it'll happen. (((hugs))) xx

Thanks so much for the replies girls I really appreciate the advice.

I agree with everyone - on reflection I don't think he had a clue what he was talking about. He was so vague and couldn't give any valid reason for why I should wait. It's not even like he said that having cystitis in early pregnancy has been linked to miscarriage. So I'm going to totally ignore him because I know we are ready to try again, and his little test showed that I have no infection, so on that score I am as healthy as any other woman trying to conceive.

    Thanks again xx
