My LO has been diagnosed with baby eczema. I went to get advice about how to wean and what I needed to be cautious about. As we have no family history of allergies and the eczema is mild the GP advised that hopefully the chance my LO being allergic to foods was unlikely. The main groups of foods to be aware of are dairy products, tomatoes, and strawberries.
Now 6 months old (we started weaning at 5 months) we introduced dairy products tonight. I am pleased to say that it went well. I made cauliflower cheese puree. My LO ate it all. I observed her for any redness, or changes in skin colour, any signs of breathing difficulties or any itchiness. It was scary starting a food that could potentially be harmful to my LO, but equally it is important that she gets all the nutrients from dairy.
I'm hoping that she will grow out of the baby eczema as apparently many babies do.

Hi Nicola, My two LOs suffered with infant eczema but I am glad to say that it is pretty much all cleared up.I steered clear of dairy until my eldest was pretty much a year just in case as I was worried about allergies, I have been a lot more relaxed with my youngest though, giving her dairy (yoghurt, cheese) earlier, with no problems. Saying that both still suffer with certain allergies, and I would say to be particularly cautious with eggs, as my LO is allergic to these and I have to be careful as I have just been told that some vaccinations contain egg white! I have also been told that she may grow out of this allergy,. She is booked in for allergy tests in October so I will find out then. Good Luck with your LO.

My lg developed eczema when she was a few months old. By the time she got to 11 months (when I started moving her from formula to cow milk in her bottles) it really began to flare up. Poor thing was bleeding and everything from her sores. Anyway I found once I had moved her onto organic cows milk it started to be much more manageable. So I try my best to always have this for her even still. If this had failed I had a friend who also was in the same boat and she moved her little boy onto goats milk, Not only did his eczema clear up but his asthma also did.
Its hard because its trial and error with everything and what works for one baby may not work for the next. I just though I would share my experience on this one. xx
