Does anybody know of any baby rice products that you can mix up/make up with water rather than milk. I suffered from recurrent mastitis (now resolved) so have been advised not to express and my LO isn't on formula (so don't want to make up bottle for few spoonfuls to add to rice). Can you recommend me any brands or even homemade alternatives please?

I used Heniz baby rice and I used to mix it with boiled water that had cooled to a warm temperature. I also used to use baby rice to thicken fruit purées that I had made or add to his meals to bulk them up. For example, if I made a purée from mushroom, tomato, courgette and basil, I wouldadd baby rice.
I hope this helps.

Thanks Harjeet, Heinz it is then. I get problmes with engorment so was advised not to express, but the baby-rice I have can only be mised with milk. Good idea to mix it with other foods too. I'm still learning about all this, ha ha x x

I use ground rice - I use full-fat milk, but perhaps you could use a non-dairy alternative? Soya or almond milk? But am sure it would work with water too, just not as creamy!
Found this to be a really cost effective option, and I mix different fruits with it, and as Harjeet suggested it is a great base for a whole range of goodies, as it doesn't have huge amounts of flavour on its own.
If you do want it on it's own, add a tiny bit of vanilla extract, and it tastes really lovely! You can also serve it cold, so you can make up a batch and keep it in a fridge for a day or two!

We also still use heinz and my son loves it! They do a range of favours and you could still try adding your own fruit to make it more inteteresting

Can I add cows milk to make up the porridge now that my baby is 6 months old? The packet says 'usual milk', but I'm not able to express.

Yes you can give baby cows milk in baby rice and cereals, just not for drinking.
