is my baby getting what he needs?
my son is nearly 1 on boxing day and im worried he isnt eating enough, he will eat about half a bowl of anything thats put in frot of him (about 20 teaspoonfulls) but isnt interested in finishing his dinner but rushing onto a yoghurt. Also he doesnt eat much breakfast either, he has both breasts about 6.30am then at 7.30am i try to give him toast or cereal but he doesnt want that either!!
20 teaspoons is alot for a 1 year old, his tummy is only as big as his fist,
if hes happy and energetic i wouldnt worry too much but you can always go to your helth visitor.
is he putting on waight ?
I wouldn't worry too much provided he is in good health and has plenty of energy. My lo is 21 months now but it has always been feast or famine with her. Some days I can't seem to fill her and she will eat and eat and eat and yet sometimes she won't touch a thing for maybe a day or two. She's been like that since day 1. It used to worry me silly and she's always been very slim but she has bags of energy all the time and she's rarely ill so I guess I'm doing something right! Her dad and I are both naturally slim so I would say she takes after us and I remember when I wasa small child I never had much appetite and hardly ate a thing. Babies and small children tend to eat what they need when they need it - they have quite good judgement.
