I wanted to share a bit of a "success" story that we've had with our 8 month old. I have taken the puree / finger food approach to weaning rather than complete baby led. This is working and he eats a wide range of foods. At lunch we used to give him a puree followed by some yogurt afterwards he would go down for what should be his long sleep (ideally 2 hours). When he was young I tried to "train" him a little and would get him back to sleep after he inevitably woke after 30 minutes but now he's bigger this didn't work. But at 8 ish months he was still waking and not doing it consistently and when we got him up he nearly always had a big burp stirring! A couple of weeks ago I changed his lunch to finger food, so a piece of toast and maybe a Dairylea triangle or some ham etc and gave him a yogurt at dinner time instead. He might only have two bottom teeth but it's amazing what he can eat!! And his lunchtime sleeps have dramatically improved! He does stir and sometimes cry but I leave him and he usually settles back! It's not consistent yet but the difference has got to be down to eating more solid food and not a yogurt etc.
Has anyone else had anything similar with their baby?
