I'm still relatively new to weaning having only started in the first week of january - Bert is getting on really well with his one lunchtime meal a day of a veg or fruit puree. I just wondered when you guys introduced a second meal? and third? I've got lots of baby rice/porridge and cereal all suitable from 4 months and I wondered whether I should begin introducing breakfast after his 2nd bottle? What do you think? Would love any advice. Also when did you start cutting bottles down?
Thanks so much for any advice

I followed the "time table" in Annabel Karmel. So I did lunch for one week, then week two and three did breakfast and lunch and then three meals a day after that.
Milk - I did 6 bottles a day pre weaning I think 7am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm, 6.30pm and 10.30pm dream feed... He's a very big boy and was hungry, the 5/630 feed was initially a split feed but this wasn't enough for him. So when I introduced lunch I firstly halved the 11am milk and after a week or so I dropped it completely. Then dropped the 5pm milk once he started having dinner. I dropped the dream feed at 6 months. You don't want to drop too quickly on the milk because if he's sleeping through the night this could disrupt it because obviously there is more calories in milk than vegetables. Maybe drop some by half then fully drop them when you're comfortable that he's getting enough.
Hope this helps!!

Thanks Mummy Swan - great advice. I have given him his first 'breakfast' this morning - mango baby rice - he loved it - although has now discovered he can blow raspberries when its in his mouth :-P messy! I'll give him breakfast as well as lunch for the next few weeks and see how he gets on. I don't want to rush him - but for now he seems to be demolishing the food and seems happy and settled. I will take your advice about the milk - I won't cut any out for a bit - he's already only on 5 feeds of 200ml, he naturally cut out the 6th one…because he's only 5 months i'll definitely keep him on the 5 feeds until he's at least 6 months - then I'll think about cutting down some amounts in the bottles. Slowly but surely is the key I hope.
Anyone else have advice on time scales of introducing new meals and cutting back bottles?

Hi guys! We've now fully introduced Bert's second meal - he's having baby rice mixed with a fruit puree for breakfast, and a veggie or veggie/fruit combo puree at lunch time - he seems to be really enjoying it.
Now to introduce dinner - I think we'll wait a little while until we introduce meal 3.
How are you all getting on?
