If this had been my child in this play marriage of education, I would be none too pleased with it all, To begin with, What if the child was from a single parent family?, this would drag attention to the child or any other child taking part, that she or he was missing out in their lives by not living with both parents.

Just wondering if they'll set up a court for divorce proceedings-or am I being cynical?
I'm sure there are many more ways to increase a childs vocabulary,I'm sure it is a positive thing to show children committed relationships, but this could also be done without a ''wedding''.

I had a 5-year-old asking me about a fishtail dress design for the wedding dress. How about that for vocabulary?”
That's such useful vocabulary for a five year old to know.
And of course without the stag and hen dos,the big dress, the mercedes to the church you couldn't possibly be committed to a relationship.
I think there's more relevant activities 5 and 6 year olds could be just as involved in.

I think it's hilarious! It's nice that children can just enjoy a bit of role play and fun. We used to play dress up all the time and weddings were our favourite. And hey if it benefits their vocab and works why not?

Schools have become so serious of late with more and more parents wanting them to practically raise their children. And don't get me started on the imaginary 'wait lists' for state primary schools!

Good on the school for doing something fun and different and allowing the children to enjoy themselves!

I was at infant school when Prince Charles and Lady Di got married and we re-enacted it!!! We had a ball, but i may be biased as i was the bride.

My little niece quite often plays wedding. if the kids want to dress up thats great but it seems extremely OTT for increasing vocabulary. I don't even know what a fishtail dress is!!!!!!!!

Why not take them out to the zoo and get them to discuss that or even a walk in the park. My Little boys reception class went on a teddy bears picnic to the local play park and they had to talk about the things they saw on the walk to the park, what they played on and what they ate in class and home, infact three weeks later we still talk about it.

we had a pretend wedding at nursery when i was little-Im really quite stunned as to what the fuss is all about?!  Admittedly we didnt have the stag/hen do's but it was a wedding, using the little wooden play house as the 'church' .  It was fun as far as i remember-it was all just make believe!  I do remember as well being most jealous of the bride, with her pretty white dress- !!
