Lego would have to be a favourite. Not just a boys toy.We all loved Lego, and this year we're getting quite a bit of that for our kids too.

I had a lot of Playmobil too,but the sets were much more basic than they are today

I can remember getting twin dollies and a twin dolly buggy when I was 8,I think. The dollies had hand knitted outfits.

I remember asking for and getting a Sindy, but the same year my brothers both  got Action Man figures and toys.Sindy threw away the girly clothes and joined Action Man,and stole some of his clothes, they were much more fun.

Rubiks cubes were big one year too,and blue and yellow roller boots me and my brother both got one year.

We certainly didn't get as many presents as kids do now.

OOOoohhh, I had roller blades!! I was never any good on roller skates tho! I also used to love puppy in my pocket, I remember when they used to come as the free toy in some breakfast cereal packets! I also used to love littlest pet shop and one christmas my mum bought me the zoo! I used to collect teeny weeny families aswell! I also used to love polly pocket, but then I got to a tom boy stage and asked my mum to get me mighty max's instead!! My most memorable christmas present tho was when I was about ten, I got a super nintendo. It was my pride and joy, I practically lived on it. I played Mario and Donkey kong for hours on end, and I still have it now! We've got a PS3 in our house now, but nintendo wins everytime for me!!

As for Lego... I remember getting a lego shopping mall, and I built it to the exact same design as on the box and once I got it perfect I wouldn't let anybody near it!! My boys have lego now, and my youngest has the duplo lego, but I must say I find it such a pain having to clear it away, and when you miss a bit and later step on it with no shoes on, OUCH!!!

The best thing for me now though, is Disney films. I was a proper Disney kid! I had every video released, and every christmas I knew I'd get the latest one, and we'd all sit down and watch it!  I've had to re-buy everything now, what with dvds and everything, but they really enjoy disney films, and every weekend we all watch cinemagic when the classics come on. My eldest loves the fact that mummy and daddy watched them when we were little!

Oh Jo I think you must be about the same age as me, I had a twin pram and dolls. I had Sindy before Barbie took over the world and a Sindy house that my brother set fire to.

I also had roller skate with the stoppers still bear the scar up the inside of my arm to prove how rubbish I was at it.

You have to know hat a roller disco is,Laura.Oh the shame,we went every week. You  er skate round in circles, about a couple hundred of you, with er cool at the time eighties music. The very brave of you skate in the middle ,a few show off and do tricks,a few fall on their ***es,you laugh and promptly fall on your own *rse cos I swear those boots had a mind of their own.

I never had a Sindy house but I do remember she was really good on the Action Man training tower escape slide, and GI Joe's combats and boots werea perfect fit.

I used to love going to activity world!! we had a massive one when i used to live in milton keynes, and we used to go for skate n' play sessions, where you'd have an hour in the soft play and an hour skating. it was sooo much fun!! I take my boys to a place called kidspace now, in purley, and its every childs dream. its huuuge! It even has go-karting, ice cream parlour, a tower maze and a mini cinema!!!

Kids are so spoilt for choice these days!!

I once asked for a violin. Strange request but I saw a strange shaped box under the tree. How exciting. I opened it. A doll. Doh. I got a real dog bed and a load of pound puppies that I named after the characters from Bread of all programmes. I was really excited when i was 6 at getting a casette walkman that was red. I couldn't wait for the hols to finish to show the kids at school. My little pony rocked too. I was so lucky one year to get the pony nursey & castle.

I think Lego definately stands the test of time, kids still love it now, I used to love it and still play with it with harry, in fact Harry now has his dads old lego sets, his mum and dad had kept them all this time along with all his old toy cars which were metal so although the paint is a bit bashed up they are still great toys (although a bit heavy if someone decides to throw it ---- max his younger cousin!)

I used to have a Sindy, didnt like Barbie - or barbie wasnt out - one of my school friends used to have the massive sindy house too  along with the horse and carriage etc etc - i was jealous then!    I had roller skates too I used to love them.... My sister had a my little pony she loved it along with the care bears!   I used to love my tiny tears doll!

I feel very old if Laura liked spice girls stuff as a child  I hate heading towards 40!

We were just talking in the office this morning about soft play and how they neve rused to have it when I was a kid!   There are quite a lot of them around here. Thinking of booking a party for H in November rather than having the hassle of doing all the food etc - more stress!!!
