We had lots of trouble with the "lunchbox police" as we call them.I pack a healthy lunch.Sandwiches, fruit, salad box, raisins, cheese or yogurt, and fruit juice to drink.I also put in a treat,a cake,a biscuit.
I was finding my kids bringing home that treat because lunch time supervisors took it upon themsef to question my choice of what I put in my child's lunchbox. These are just dinner ladies, they blindly follow some guideline that says this is good or this is bad, without looking at the rest of the lunchbox. One told my 7 year old she couldn't eat a homemade flapjack, which I put in there because it was a healthy treat,as are most of the little cakes that go in,cos I make them myself and I know what's in them.It got to a point where they were hiding food and eating it in secret in case the lunchbox police saw.
I had words with the school office lady, fully expecting and dreading a barny but she said she'd look into it and call me back later.Apparently she had words with the entire lunchtime staff and told me if there was any mote trouble to come and see her again.
There's been no more trouble.Just slightly embarassed to have tomake a fuss.
Nobody questions my decisions with regards to my children, don't care what their latest guidelines say.

OMG, that is terrible. i bet if they had a school meal it wouldn't be as healthy as you packed lunch. Some people take their bit of authority too far. I must say I would have been furious. For your children to eat secretly aweful. If I'm totally honest, hats off to you. I think that was a very calm approach. I hope I can be as level headed once my girls get to school. I still remember one dinner lady imparticular from when I was at primary school. Looking back she was a sly bully. Also being mean but bent over to say things in your ear where teachers couldn't hear. Years later it turned out it was a friend from works mum. Revenge was served as my friend went home to told her mum how mean she was.
