Witches' Hats
- Draw a large circle on black cardboard for the brim of the hat.
- Cut the circle out and draw a second circle inside the first large enough to fit the wearer's head.
- Cut around this line using a craft knife.
- Measure the diameter of the brim and cut another circle of black card measuring about 15cm larger for the crown.
- Cut a slit from the edge into the centre.
- Fold this circle into a cone shape to fit inside the brim.
- Staple the cone in position where the card overlaps.
- Tape the cone to the brim on the inside.
TIP: For decoration, draw a crescent moon shape on silver wrapping paper, cut out and glue to the front of the cone.
Paper Bunting
To make home-made bunting, cut shapes such as pumpkins, ghosts or black cats from coloured A4 paper or decorate plain paper using crayons or felt-tip pens. Staple to a length of string.
Pumpkin Hat
- For the basic shell, build-up layers of papier mâché on a blown-up balloon. Do this by diluting PVA glue with water to make a milky consistency then brush on to the balloon and cover with strips of newspaper - at least six to eight layers.
- Add a stalk made from a strip of cord, rolled up and taped in place.
- Leave to dry for 24-48 hours.
- Burst the balloon and trim the edge of the shell with scissors.
TIP: For a pumpkin look, build-up ridges of tissue, then paste on 3 layers of orange, red, yellow and green tissue paper.
